Principal's Report

Dear Parents,
Welcome back for term two. Hopefully everyone had a restful break ready for another term full of activity and excitement. For those families who celebrated Eid al-Fitr before the end of term, or Easter just as school recommenced, we hope this was a special time for you and your families.
Having spent the last five weeks of term one at Binap Primary School, it was refreshing to see familiar faces and routines upon my return.
On behalf of all in our community, I would like to extend a huge thank you to Kylie Kennedy for taking on the acting principal role in my absence, and to Jo Wood for assuming the acting assistant principal role. Both did an outstanding job, supported by a great leadership team and a very strong staff overall.
Tuesday of last week was Judy Tanner's last day at Mackellar, and her last day of teaching after a wonderful career spaning several decades. Judy started working at Mackellar 20 years ago and taught everything from classrooms, to art, to intervention and everything in-between. Judy touched the lives of so many students during her illustrious career and was a trusted and expert mentor to so many staff.
For those of you who joined us on Thursday of last week for our ANZAC service, you will have seen what fine young student leaders we have here at Mackellar. Joined by some esteemed guests, our student leaders led us through a very moving commemoration. Well done to them, and for joining Jo Wood at the Caroline Springs dawn service where they laid a wreath on behalf of our school community.
Finally a request for parents, which unfortunately we have to make periodically. We kindly ask that parents and community members park according to road rules for the safety and ease of all. Please only park in designated parking areas and avoid parking in or across driveways. Please also only park in disabled bays if you have a disabled permit clearly displayed in your windscreen. You cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Simon McGlade
Principal
