School News

Dear Families,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the most wonderful start to the 2025 school year. Term 1 has been jam packed with exciting learning opportunities and lots of community events.
Please see a video message from our School Captains.
Easter
Over the holidays we will be celebrating Holy Week and Easter. This is the most important time in our Church calendar. We would like to wish you and your family every blessing as we enter this sacred time.
Almighty Father, Give me grace and mercy as I try and fail, guidance when I’m not sure which way to go, and wisdom to trust you in all things. For your love brings light and life to all who seek it. May I seek you evermore as I walk with you through this Holy Week and beyond.
Amen.
Galilee Family Movie Night
It was a wonderful community feel to the movie night at school, with popcorn, ice cream and very many laughs, watching Ratatouille under the stars. Thank you Natalie and Jodie for organising, and to all the families who turned up for the occasion, and helped to tidy afterwards.
Fundraising and Community Events
This term we have had a number of fundraising activities and community events that have helped our community come together. In 2025, we are fundraising to upgrade our playground and play equipment for students to access during recess and lunch. Our School Advisory Council is using the Master Plan to help guide what we purchase and install to ensure that it aligns with plans for future development.
Term 1 fundraising activities and community events include:
- Shrove Tuesday Pancake Breakfast - $360 was raised
- Galilee Family Movie Night - $777 was raised
- Easter Cookie Sale - $2000 raised to date
- Hot Cross Bun Drive - still to be finalised
- Colour Run - still to be finalised
- Easter Raffle - still to be finalised
We will publish all Term 1 fundraising figures early next term. We are forever grateful for our very generous community and would like to thank you for your participation in organising, running, attending and supporting our school events and fundraising activities.
Communication at Galilee
Last year we created a Communication Team in response to parent feedback indicating a need for us to improve the way that we communicate at Galilee. The team has been auditing our current communication channells.
As you would be aware, we use various methods of communication to suit different purposes and audiences. We have put together a slide deck explaining the main methods of communication used at Galilee. Please click on the link below to learn about Communication at Galilee.
The communication team, school advisory council and leadership team will continue working together to standardise how and where we communicate, help parents understand where they can go to get the right information at the right time, and outline how and where they can best communicate with staff.
Cross Country
The weather was a treat for the annual Galilee Cross Country at Murphy Reserve. We could not be more proud of our students who all did their best at the Cross Country event. What really impressed us was the incredable sportsmanship shown by the students. Students were encouraging each other and supporting each other along the way. We would like to thank Mr. Greene for organising and running the day and we would also like to thank the amazing parents who volunteered to assist on the day. Congratulations to our winners, runners up and all who gave it their all on the day.
Bishop Tony Ireland visits Galilee
Last Friday we welcomed Bishop Tony Ireland to Galilee. He met with some of our Year 6 leaders who took him on a tour of the school. He spent some time in the Year 6 classrooms before joining the staff for Morning Tea. After recess Bishop Ireland met with Amy, Richard and Fr. Paul about the Catholic Identity of our school.
Parent/Caregiver - Teacher Conferences
Thank you to the parents and caregivers who attended Parent/Caregiver - Teacher Conferences on Tuesday. Your involvement is crucial in supporting your child/ren’s education. We also want to recognise the dedication of our teachers and school staff. These conferences offer an opportunity to strengthen home and school partnerships, where feedback on your child’s learning can be discussed, and we look forward to our ongoing collaboration.
Congratulations to our Prep students
We would like to congratulate our Prep students on completing their first term of school. They have all settled into the routine and rhythm of school so well. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch them learn so much in the classroom and bond with each other on the playground.
School Uniform
In Term 2 we will transition to our winter uniform. In the first two weeks of Term 2 students can either wear their full Summer uniform or their full Winter uniform. By Monday 5th May it is expected that all students wear their full Winter uniform.
