Dear Parents,
This week Ms Di Maggio and I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a 2 day workshop hosted by Sydney Catholic Schools and facilitated by Viviane Robinson.
Alongside 350 of our Sydney Catholic Schools leaders and colleagues from the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong, we gathered at Mount St Joseph Catholic College to hear from the esteemed Viviane Robinson. As a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Auckland - Waipapa Taumata Rau and a Visiting Professor at University College London, Viviane brings a wealth of knowledge and insight.
Over the two days, Viviane guided us through the concepts of Virtuous Leadership and Collaborative Complex Problem Solving. Eager to delve into these topics, we challenged our current thinking, and refined our practices and leadership skills. This profound impact on this learning will have on our professional growth and the future of our schools. Attending this conference was an incredible experience. We can't wait to see how these sessions will transform our approach to leadership and problem-solving!
I had the pleasure of taking some of our Year 6 leaders to the National Leaders Day at the ICC Darling Harbour. We listened to inspiring key note speakers:
Anthony ‘Harries’ Carroll is one of the most recognisable lifeguards in the world thanks to the TV series ʻBondi Rescueʼ. He has spent more than three decades protecting beachgoers on the Australian coastline. He spoke of his fears and the importance of working through them.
Catherine Laga'aia who is a young australian actress who will soon be one of the world's most recognised faces. She is starring as Moana in the live-action movie of the Disney favourite, being released next year. She spoke of risk taking and hardwork to get to the big rewards at the other end.
Emma Mckeon has 11 Olympic Games Medals and 20 Commonwealth Games Medals to her name. She is not only the greatest Australian swimmer of all time, but the most decorated Olympian, and one of the greatest athletes the world has ever seen. Emma spoke of achieving her dreams and the hard work she had to put in to get there.
Thomas Duncan-Watt is a young screenwriter and author, awarded for shows ranging from cartoon series ‘Space Nova’ to ‘Home & Away’, and multiple shows across Netflix, ABC and BBC. He spoke of how many times you actually need to fail before you suceed and the important lessons you learn from this.
May this year be one of GOODNESS, TRUTH and BEAUTY.
Take care and God Bless.
Kind regards,
