Meet our Team

Specialists

Meet our incredible specialist team! They enhance our students learning in vibrant and creative ways. Stretching and encouraging our students to reach their full potential across Arts, STEM, Auslan, Physical Education and Wellbeing. Enjoy finding out more about them and why they love their specialty area.

Ms Rebekah Shurley

Favourite song/artist: I’ve got too many to name! Although if I’m honest, I spend a lot of time listening to Eurovision songs…

Greatest accomplishment: Being a part of National Indigenous Youth Parliament for three years and being interviewed by the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Indigenous Affairs about Indigenous Education.

Favourite place in Tasmania and favourite place in the world: In Tasmania would be Freycinet, I love the Hazards! In the world would be Kingussie in the Scottish Highlands, so pretty and peaceful!

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and why: I would like to fly because it seems like so much fun! Or teleportation where I can take people with me so we could go on holidays wherever we want. Like the movie Jumper but minus the bad guys.

If you could be friends with someone in the Old Testament, who would it be and why: I would like to meet so many people from the Old Testament! I’d love to hear from Gideon and Joshua about their experiences following God and seeing his provision, but if I was to be friends with someone it would probably be Noah and his family – I would love to know all about how they looked after all those animals in the ark for so long! How did they stop them from eating each other? How were they all stored? Which ones were your favourites? Did you get to cuddle them all?!

What do you love about your specialty area: STEM is just so interesting! I love learning about how the world works and why things are the way they are. I’m fascinated by the way God has gifted us with all these natural resources and then given humans amazing minds to think of ways to use these resources to make new things!

I love Auslan because it’s a new language to learn that we can use within our own communities! Not only that but learning Auslan encourages us to think about ways to make our society more inclusive and allows us to communicate more easily with those around us. By learning Auslan, we are showing our care and support for Auslan users and are working towards a more inclusive community that is accessible by all.

Fun fact: I love theatre! You will often see me popping up in shows along the coast or working behind the scenes on props!

Mrs Judith Clark

My favourite song is the Goodness of God. My greatest achievement is becoming a mum.

My favourite place in Tasmania is Cradle Mountain and my favourite place in the world is Australia.

If I could choose a superpower it would be to sprinkle joy, even in the darkest places.

If I could be friends with someone in the Bible it would be James. If I was a boy I was going to be named James. He was a close friend of Jesus and I would love to walk and talk with Jesus.

What I love most about my specialty area is being able to see the creativity that every child brings and the delight of seeing their artwork.

Mrs Amanda Scott

Favourite song/artist (at the moment) is Be with you by The Belonging Co.

My greatest accomplishment is becoming a parent to our three children.

My favourite place in Tasmania would be the East Coast and favourite place in the world is home (or possibly Disneyworld but I haven’t been there YET).

If I could choose a superpower, I would choose teleportation. I'm often late, or wishing to be everywhere instantly.

If I could be friends with someone in the Old Testament, I would choose Ruth, for her curiosity, loyalty, & bravery.

What I love most about my specialty area in music is that it can be shared, that it's so personal and that it brings so much glory to God, who is creative, relational and as it says in Zephaniah 3:17, our God is singing over us.

Mr Nathan Scott

Favourite song/artist: Been So Good by Elevation Worship.

Greatest accomplishment: Being a dad to 3 beautiful children.

Favourite place in Tasmania: Bridport.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and why: I would choose the power of time travel as I like old things and new techy things too.

If you could be friends with someone in the Old Testament, who would it be and why: I am a big fan of David and his heart for God.

What do you love about your specialty area: I love my role as Chaplain as it's always something different and I get to see children from every grade.

Learn to Swim

Over the last few days our Prep and 1/2 classes have had a splash at Learn to Swim! We took the bus to Splash and got into our swimming gear. Once in the pool we had the opportunity to learn to float on our backs, dive to the bottom, practice blowing bubbles and gliding along with boards. We all had a fabulous time! Here are some highlights:

Nova: I loved doing dolphin dives and getting the rings.

Gabriel: My favourite thing has been going underwater.

Alice: I loved everything, mostly dolphin diving.

Eli: I liked learning back stroke.

Sophia: I loved going in the deep end and doing freestyle.

Edith: I like going underwater, I can hold my breath for a long time and look at people’s feet!

Elky: I liked kicking and doing a seahorse race.

Hudson A: I like doing freestyle and going on the bus. I enjoyed getting to sit next to my friends.
