Principal Report
Mr. Lehane
As Term 1 comes to an end, I want to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible and action-packed start to the year it has been! This term also marks my one-year anniversary at Bridgewater Primary School, and I couldn’t be prouder of how much we’ve achieved together.
From launching our new playgroup to welcoming the Carlton Football Club, kicking off Auskick, and establishing a full and dedicated school council, it has been a term filled with energy, growth, and community spirit.
But the excitement doesn’t stop here—Term 2 is shaping up to be just as dynamic! Students can look forward to an excursion to the Bendigo Repair Shed, GRIP Leadership training for our Year 5/6 students and school leaders, a Bunnings visit, Mother’s Day celebrations, Swimming Playgroup, Athletics, and a range of other sports clinics.
I hope everyone takes the time to relax and recharge over the holidays. Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable break! I look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, April 22nd (as Monday, April 21st, is the Easter Monday public holiday).
Enjoy the holidays, and see you soon!
Today we travelled to Wedderburn College as they celebrated the annual Easter Fete extravaganza. Thank you to Mr. Danny Forest for the invitation and supplying the BBQ lunch. The students really enjoyed the day and it has become a highlight of our year.
Each month, Bridgewater PS is one of the lucky schools around the district to receive a donation of fruit and other breakfast foods to support our daily 'Breakfast Club' and Wednesday lunch program.
We are extremely grateful to Daryl and the other members of the TTF who work tirelessly to support schools and students with their generous donations and contributions.
Here is Neil, one of the Foundation's key members, along with Emily and Hunter, our School Captain and Vice-Captain, receiving this month's collection of goodies!
Thanks again Daryl, Neil and the TFF!
The students have started creating displays for the Bridgewater ANZAC Day dawn service. As well as helping to create the displays our school captain Emily will be reading the 'Ode' and selected students will lay a wreath.
We hope to see as many students in school uniform with attend the ANZAC Day dawn service at the Bridgewater Memorial hall on Friday April 25th (this is a public holiday so there will be no school on this day).
This term, we say a fond farewell to our beloved Chinese teacher, Yimen, who has been a valued part of the Bridgewater community for the past eight years. Her passion for teaching and dedication to her students have left a lasting impression, making Chinese lessons both meaningful and memorable.
One of the highlights of Yimen’s time with us was her famous dumpling-making sessions, a favorite activity among students. Through hands-on experiences like this, she not only taught language skills but also shared the richness of Chinese culture in a fun and engaging way.
Yimen, you will be greatly missed by students, staff, and families alike. We sincerely thank you for your years of hard work and commitment. As you move to Melbourne, we hope you enjoy your new adventures and time with family.
Thank you, Yimen, and best wishes for the future!
