Blessing.

Dear God,

we thank you for your servant, Patrick,

who taught the people of Ireland

to turn from sin and follow your son, Jesus.

This Lenten season helps us also to turn from our sins,

and bring us closer into a relationship with you,

Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Reconciliation Celebration

Last Thursday evening, our Year 3 children celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Throughout the term, the children have been preparing for his event and we congratulate all the children who celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Special thanks to the Year 3/4 teachers, Father Brendan and Father Tien.

Saint Patrick's Mass

Last Friday our school leaders' representatives, attended Saint Patrick's Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral.  The day began with a special celebration celebrated by Archbishop Peter Comensoli, with many schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne taking part in this event.

Way of the Cross

Lent is the season to observe and commemorate the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Saviour and Redeemer. It is an opportune time to reflect on what it means to be a follower of Christ.  The purpose of the Lenten Season is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ to consider his suffering and his sacrifice, his life, death, burial, and resurrection.

As we prepare for the death and resurrection of Jesus we come together as a Catholic school community to acknowledge Jesus’ love for us.  The children will engage in re-enacting “The Way of the Cross” which will take place on Friday the 4th April at 9.15am.  We will begin in the Hawthorn Yard and we will  make our way to the church where the final stations will be re-enacted.

We invite parents and carers to join us as we celebrate this important time of the Catholic Church.

Celebrating Reconciliation Retreat Day

As people of faith, our learners were given the time and opportunity to engage in a Retreat Day.  The purpose of this day was for our learners to develop a deeper understanding of the importance of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The children engaged in various learning opportunities to understand and make connections to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The day began as we gathered in the chapel to reflect and engage in prayer. We began by asking Jesus to guide us, as we spend this day reflecting and understanding why it is important to ask for forgiveness and to reflect on that at times we make poor choices.  We continued by exploring the meaning of Reconciliation and making connections to the gospel reading “The prodigal Son”. The children enjoyed the day as they were treated to a hot lunch.

Caritas Australia:

During the six weeks of Lent, as a school community, we focus on Project Compassion. As a school community, we can make a difference. Project Compassion brings thousands of Australian schools, parishes and supporters together to raise funds for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world. Your generosity can help the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people.

God bless and have a great week,
