OUR LEARNING

Reading: In our reading sessions we have been analysing how author's use the 'show don't tell' technique in texts. We have discussed how author's use a range of features such as imagery and sensory details to build a picture in the mind of the reader.

Writing: In writing we have moved on to narrative writing. Students have been challenged to use the 'show don't tell' technique in their own stories and creating a problem and solution in their narratives that fits with the character and setting they have created.

Maths: We introduced number talks in our Maths sessions this week, encouraging students to discuss their thinking aloud with each other. We continued with our unit on division, with some students using arrays to help them visualise and solve division problems. Other students have been working on formal division with remainders and converting remainders to decimals.

Humanities: In Civics and Citizenship, students have been putting together a proposal for a new community. Students have had to consider the population of their local community, the services that would be available to community members and the rules and laws of their community and who would uphold them.

CRAZY HAIR DAY!

It was great to see so many students get into the spirit of Crazy Hair Day and raise some money for the Grade 6 end of year camp.

RUOK? DAY

As part of RUOK Day, we engaged in discussions about how to check in with someone to see if they're ok and the importance of being a 'Listening Legend".
