Assistant Principal

Year 9 & 10

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

I can’t believe that it is the middle of Term 3 already! I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the exciting activities and initiatives that have taken place for our Year 9 and 10 students over the past few weeks. It’s been a busy term, and I’m proud of the way our students have engaged with the opportunities presented to them.

Years 9 and 10 Course Counselling and Subject Selection for 2025

Our Year 10 students have been actively involved in course counselling and subject selection for 2025. This is a significant step as they begin to shape their academic pathways and consider their future aspirations. I’ve been impressed with the maturity and thoughtfulness many of our students have shown during this process. The choices they make now will set the foundation for their future studies and their futures.

Assemblies on the National Day Against Bullying and Violence

On the 16th of August, we held important assemblies for students to mark the National Day Against Bullying and Violence. These assemblies focused on promoting a safe and respectful school environment, and it was inspiring to see the students engage so positively with the messages shared. Additionally, we discussed what it means to be a successful Lalor student and provided students with some instructions on how to access and read their reports so that they can more effectively understand where they are in their learning and set meaningful learning goals.

Lates to School - Significant Improvement

I am pleased to report that our efforts to address punctuality have yielded significant results. We’ve seen a noticeable improvement in students arriving on time, which sets a positive tone for the day and ensures they make the most of their learning opportunities without disrupting the learning of others. Thank you to all the parents, carers and guardians who have supported this initiative. Well done to our students for their efforts.

Year 9 Gold Coast Camp (2nd September - 6th September)

Our Year 9 students are gearing up for the much-anticipated Gold Coast camp, which promises to be an exciting and enriching experience. From 2nd to 9th September, they will have the opportunity to bond with their peers, participate in various activities, and create lasting memories. I know many are looking forward to the adventure!

Grade A Resumes - Year 9 Presentation

In preparing our Year 9 students for the future, we recently hosted a presentation on creating Grade A resumes. This session provided them with valuable insights into how to present their skills and experiences effectively. It’s never too early to start thinking about future careers as many students will begin their first part-time jobs over the coming 12 months.

Year 10 Romeo and Juliet English Incursion

Our Year 10 students had the chance to dive deeper into their English studies with an incursion focused on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The performance and interactive discussions brought the classic play to life, helping students gain a greater understanding of the themes and language. Engaging with the text in this way makes learning so much more meaningful.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended our recent parent-teacher conferences. It was a pleasure to meet many of you and discuss your child’s progress. Your involvement is crucial in supporting their education, and I appreciate the time you took to connect with us.

School Production - High School Musical

Finally, I must highlight the school production of High School Musical as a true standout of the term. Our students put on a fantastic show, demonstrating incredible talent, teamwork, and dedication. It was a joy to see their hard work pay off in such a vibrant and entertaining way.

Warm regards,

Jules Ryan
