Year 12 Indicative/Practice Exams
Indicative Exams are trial exams for our year 12 VCE students who will go onto complete the end of year VCE exams. Traditionally these are scheduled to occur during the term three holidays, Attendance at these exams is compulsory for all students completing VCE unit 3 and 4 studies. They will be used by teachers to form a prediction of each student’s performance for their final exams. This prediction or indication is sent to VCAA for their referencing and maybe used in some exceptional cases to provide a final study score for students. Students should actively revise and prepare for these exams during the holiday break. We seek your support as carers and guardians to ensure the attendance of students. All exams will be held in the Drama Centre and supervised by college staff. Students will need to bring their lunch if they have two exams over the one day. Students should arrive to school by 8.30 for their first scheduled exam which will be English. Please refer to the Indicative Exam timetable below.
Teachers will mark these exams and provide feedback on student performance. This forms an extensive part of an important element in the preparation to the final exams. It should provide clear directions to students, as to the areas requiring additional revision of content and an authentic opportunity under exam conditions to practice skills critical to that specific subject area including time management during the exam. The more practice exams students complete in the final run up to their exams, the greater the opportunities for successful results and confidence to do their best.
These approaching holidays are a good opportunity for students to really step up their preparations to achieve a successful outcome to their exams. Unit three and four summaries should have already been completed, if not, this is a great time to get on top of these.
Edrolo is a useful resource the school has provided for our year 12 students free of charge, which allows for fantastic and engaging revision opportunities, including the ability to go back and watch videos of concepts students may need to revisit, many unit quizzes and practice exam questions. Each student completing a unit three and four subject has a code to access this platform. Please encourage your child to make the most of this opportunity as part of their final revision routine.
Year 11 students are working hard to prepare for final School Assessed Coursework (SACs). Please continue to check their Learning Task Feedback comments from their teachers for each of their subjects. Teachers can be contacted should you wish to discuss progress in individual subjects.
Again, we welcome parent contact regarding the progress of their child.
