QUT HS Mooting Competition

Students Stella McLennan, Jade Harris-Gross, and Bridgette O’Brien represented Clayfield College with distinction at the QUT HS Mooting Competition held at QUT’s Garden’s Point campus over the weekend. Competing in two challenging heats, our students showcased their legal acumen and teamwork.

The Moot required our students to develop and present complex legal arguments while responding to challenging questions from the bench. Their ability to think quickly, remain composed, and support each other throughout the preparation and presentation phases was commendable.

On Saturday, the team faced Kingaroy State High School as defence counsel before a panel of two judges. Their outstanding performance earned them a total score of 142.5 points, securing a win for this moot and receiving high praise from the judges for their articulate argumentation and overall presentation.

The competition continued on Sunday, where they competed against Sunshine Coast Grammar School as prosecution counsel before a panel of three judges, including Barrister and QUT Lecturer Mark Thomas.

Our team achieved an overall score of 288, Stella, Jade, and Bridgette should be incredibly proud of their efforts. Their hard work and dedication were evident in both heats, and they have set a high standard for future competitions.
