Book Week

Author Visit

Our students had an amazing time with Chris Collin, the author of the Funky Chicken books! His engaging presentations were expertly tailored to each age group, featuring fun music and dance interactions. Students also had the chance to kickstart their own writing projects, which we’re excited to continue in the classroom.

If you’d like to order signed copies of his unique musical picture books, it’s not too late! Follow the simple steps below, and your books will be delivered to the school:

  1. Click on the link: https://www.trybooking.com/CSKBS
  2. Click the orange "BOOK NOW" button to select and order your books.

Premier’s Reading Challenge

This week marks the conclusion of the Queensland Premier's Reading Challenge. Congratulations to everyone who has completed the challenge! We’ve had a record number of participants this year, with over 1,500 books read so far. If you haven’t already submitted your completed forms, please hand them in to Mrs. Bryan by the end of this week.

Larrikin Books Book Fair

We are hosting a Book Fair with Larrikin House from 3 September to 5 September. Classes will attend the fair during their library session and will have the opportunity to make a ‘wish list’; younger students will receive help with this. The wish lists will then be sent home so you can review them.

You will be able to review your child’s choices and pre-order online using click & collect at https://larrikinhouse.com.au/collections/book-fair-range

You will also have the option to purchase items at the Book Fair in person with credit card payments, before school at 7:30am to 8:00am or after school at 3:15pm to 4:15pm on Thursday 5 September

If you would like to donate a new book to our school library, please choose from the ‘Teacher’s Choice’ section at the Book Fair.

The Big Chop

On Friday 4 October, Meghan Guthrie-Quinn and Tia Tyler (Year 11 students) will be running the Clayfield Big Chop! The Kids Cancer Project’s Lose Your Locks Campaign encourages people to sponsor others to cut their hair. By taking part in the Big Chop, or sponsoring others, you will be helping researchers develop kids' cancer treatments, give kids their childhoods back or allow their confidence to be restored with a life changing wig. The minimum donation of hair is 20cm. If your child is interested in having their hair cut by our on-site hairdresser, please fill out the survey form attached.

If you would rather keep your locks, we would love for you, your family and friends to donate to our Clayfield Big Chop Campaign Page, all of the funds go towards the Kids' Cancer Project. Thank you for your support!

Crazy Sock and Hair Day

Crazy Sock and Hair Day is a vibrant and engaging event aimed at raising awareness and funds for childhood cancer research. This fun-filled day not only promotes self-expression but also fosters community spirit among schools, workplaces, and sports clubs.

Students are encouraged to go crazy for a cause and express their creativity by sporting the wildest hairstyles and the most colourful, mismatched socks on 4 October!
