Sandhurst Basketball Competition

On Tuesday 6 August, the Year 8 girls basketball team took part in the Sandhurst Basketball Competition. The first match was against Weeroona College, and the team won with flying colours. Throughout the day, there were breaks in between games where we were all able to cheer on the boys team. Next, the team faced Bendigo Southeast College. Warmed up and ready to go, they were able to defeat them with ease.

The next game was against Catherine McAuley College, and although the girls gave it their best shot, they were not able to beat them. Unfortunately, this meant that they would not be able to play in the grand final against Crusoe College; however, they ended up finishing the day with a win against Creek Street.

Overall, the girls had a great day, and Charlie and I enjoyed coaching them. Everyone gave it their all and their effort helped to win almost all their games. Thank you to all the teachers and staff who made the day run as smoothly as it did.

Aeroschool State Championships

On Friday 2 August, a team of Senior School students attended the Aeroschool State Championships in Melbourne. Some sections consisted of up to 44 teams, so the competition was tough! However, we had some outstanding results.

The following teams placed in the top five, qualifying for the Aeroschool National Championships on the Gold Coast:

  • 2nd: Lauren Leung and Stephanie Carlson
  • 5th: Amelia O’Rielly, Lauren Leung, Siun O’Malley, Stephanie Carlson and Abi Cullen

We were also grateful to Ruby Conti and Stephanie Carlson for attending the Primary Aeroschool competition on Thursday. With 36 junior students competing, we appreciated the support from our senior students.
