Hello families,
What a week it has been with the celebration of Book Week at Ballan PS! Our Grandparents and Special Friends morning and dress up day on Thursday was a huge success and there was a great buzz around the school. We hope everyone who attended had a lovely time visiting the classrooms, participating in the activities and enjoyed the morning tea.
There was lots of excitement in all classrooms with seeing our students and staff costumes and hear about the characters they have come as. Thank you to our families for the work you have done putting together such fabulous book week costumes. Everyone looked amazing! Our Book Week parade topped off a great day of celebrations. A huge thank you to the members of our English Action Team for putting the day together.
Our Writing progress reports were made available to families to read via XUNO Thursday afternoon (August 22nd). Our next progress report will be social and wellbeing report comments which will be made available to families via XUNO on September 19th.
If you have any questions about the reporting comments, please get in touch with your child's classroom teacher.
This term we once again welcome back Healthy Harold and Life Ed's health and wellbeing programs. Our education sessions will take place on the 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th of September. The Life Ed modules each class will be taking part in are as follows:

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge (PRC) is now very close to coming to an end with only 12 days left to finish. The PRC closes on Friday 6th September. The purpose of this year's challenge is to explore, learn and enjoy - promoting a love for reading. At Ballan PS, we are ready for the challenge!
Students and teachers have made an excellent start with reading books in class to work towards meeting and exceeding the challenge targets. At this stage, we have 81% (201 students) of the school who have met or exceeded the challenge targets.
If you’d like to participate in the challenge at home and log books via the website, please request your child’s login from your classroom teacher.
Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books.
All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.
