Senior Team

Book Week & Grandparents

What a fabulous day we had on Thursday. It was so fantastic to see so many families and special friends come into the Senior classroom to try their hand at some of our VCOP games and Fluency Tongue Twisters as part of our morning Literacy block. All the students came dressed in their best book themed costume and put on a great show at the whole school book week parade at the end of day. What a great way to be celebrating books.

Melbourne Renegades Roadshow

Today the 5/6 Team welcomed the Melbourne Renegades Cricket Team for the 2024 Renegades Roadshow. Students had the opportunity to meet and greet some current Renegades players and staff as well as have a Q&A session, participate in some cricket activities and receive some signed giveaways.

MCG and Melbourne Sports Museum Excursion

Date:  Monday 16th September

Just a friendly reminder that our excursion is coming up. Please be sure to jump on Xuno to complete permission forms and payments.

To support and celebrate our Term 3 Inquiry studies of sport, culture and the history of the Olympics, students from 5/6L, 5/6M and 5/6P will be visiting the home of the 1956 Olympics, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). On the day, students will participate in a guided 60-minute tour of the famous stadium, where students will gain an insight into Melbourne’s sporting culture as they hear from proud MCC volunteers. Additionally, students will also visit the Australian Sports Museum, which is a self-guided experience full of interaction and exploration.

Middle Years Team

What a great day we had on Thursday this week for Book Week and Grandparents/Special Friend’s morning! We were so thrilled to see all our students in their fabulous costumes and get to share this day with their special visitors. The parade was lots of fun and we loved getting to share our classrooms with our guests and work on our special book boxes. Thank you to everyone who came and shared in this special time with us. It was so wonderful to hear about our visitor’s favourite childhood books and see how the students were inspired by working together on this activity.

Staff in the Middle Years Team dressed up as characters from our class novel, Matilda by Roald Dahl; Mr, Wormwood, Mrs. Wormwood, and the Trunchball - and Matilda herself made an appearance, also.

Middle Years Team are excitedly counting down to Grade 3/4 Camp! Students have made requests for cabin and activity groups, and teachers are working on groupings.  Go onto Sunnystones Camp website if you would like to check out facilities and activities they offer; https://www.sunnystones.com.au/school-camp-home-page

Our team assembly is coming up next week (Friday 30th August). This is the same day as the PFG run Father's Day Stall. Families are invited to come and attend the assembly, in the gym, starting at about 2:30 p.m.  Get ready to learn some fascinating 'Dad facts' and maybe a 'Dad joke' or two. 😊👍

Junior Years

We are halfway through the term already, and wow, the learning that’s happening within the classrooms is brilliant! It’s so wonderful to see our students grasping different maths concepts and feeling confident in their abilities to solve the problems.

The Preps have been deepening their understanding of addition and subtraction facts. They solidified their learning by creating 'Winter warming' crafts!

The 1/2s have been deepening their understanding of multiplication. The students then solidified their knowledge by creating 'array cities’ which are up on display in the BER.

The 1/2s are also still in need of volunteers for their Gardening lessons. If you or anyone that you know might be interested in volunteering, please get in contact with Miss Harney, Mrs G or Mr M.  See the PDF link below for more information.
