Mr. Carlyle's Message
Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.
Uniforms and Sunsmart
As the change in seasons is upon us, here is a timely reminder that our school's compulsory hats policy will begin on the 3rd of September as the state's SunSmart policy returns into effect.
A friendly reminder regarding our uniform policy, and shorts. Footy shorts or shorts with sports team logos on them are not a part of our school uniform. Plain Navy shorts are the required uniform items.
Breakfast Club
Ballan PS has been accepted into the School Breakfast Club program via Food Bank.
This program includes the provision of breakfast options to all students, as well as a fruit option once a day at our healthy snack break.
We are currently working out the logistics for the program, yet ultimately we are looking for parents/grandparents/carers who would be able to volunteer for the program. It doesn't matter if you can offer one morning a week/fortnight. The success of this program will rely on volunteer input. We can provide this program five mornings a week if we receive the support to do so.
What a morning will look like, the program will run from 8:45-9:00 am. Cooking toast and providing cereal options. the time commitment required from volunteers would most likely include an 8:30 am start and a 9:10 finish. We will be refining our practice as we start the program, so times may change as we discover what works best.
Colour Run
Information on this year's colour run can be found here. It is a fantastic opportunity to fundraise for the parents and friends group, that go toward school excursions and experiences for our students.
Parent Opinion Survey
We want to know what our parent community thinks of Ballan Primary School. Last week, we posted to Xuno a message inviting all families to participate in the Parent Opinion Survey. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
Curriculum Day - September 2
Also, a reminder that our Term 3 curriculum day is scheduled for Monday, September 2, and is a student-free day.
Celebrating 150 years
This year Ballan Primary School will be celebrating its 150th year. In November this will see us hosting a community event that will merge with our Fete. The Parents and Friends Group is seeking anyone who would be interested in being a part of the organisation of this event. Or to help out or volunteer their time in any way, as Teamwork makes the Dream Work! You can reach out to me or the school, if you feel like you could contribute, or if you have a fantastic idea for something we could add to the celebrations.
