ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
The College held our annual Athletics Carnival on 14 August. it was a beautiful day with some unseasonably warm weather, which was appreciated by all. Attendance and participation was very high, with Mackillop House and Mr Quin backing up from their Cross Country victory by adding another trophy to the cabinet. All the individual event winners will now represent the college at SSVS level.
2025 COLLEGE CAPTAIN SPEECHES
The day following the Athletics carnival, the entire college gathered together in the Sacred Heart Church to listen to speeches from our prospective 2025 College Captains.
Having the entire college present was a change from previous years. However, we decided that it was important for the entire student and staff community to have a voice in which students should lead us into the future. Every student that presented a speech did an amazing job, and we were very proud of their efforts.
I congratulate Aleisha Hoyle, Estelle Floramo, Lilli Bock, Giorgia Zappia, Sumaya Maaroof, Fiona Maria Denny, Juliet Moodley, Lola Modoo, Jorja Sapuppo, Sarinna Chun, Evie Oldham, Peter Argiro, Bailey McLaughlan, and Sebastien Klarich for putting themselves forward for next year's College Captain and Vice Captain roles and wish them the best as they move onto the next stage of the selection process.
UNIFORM
Although warmer weather has returned, I remind students and families that students are still required to wear their blazers to and from school throughout Term 3.
Students will then transition back into the summer uniform at the commencement of Term 4. Blazers will no longer be required with the exception of College Assemblies, Masses, and special events. (This is also dependant on temperature.)
Students will also need to wear their bucket hats when outside for sport or during breaks. We encourage girls to check their summer dress length in the coming weeks and over the school holidays, which must be at or below the knee, as they are likely to have grown during the winter.
Please note that to support families that struggle to get to the uniform shop, the college can arrange for uniform items to be delivered to the college.
If you have any queries, please refer to the uniform policy on the college website.
CAMPS
Our Year 11 students enjoyed their Snow Camp at Perisher Ski Resort in NSW during Week 7. While we have all benefitted from the recent warmer temperatures in Mildura, it looked as though they had plenty of snow for skiing and snowboarding.
At the time of writing, our Year 7 cohort is on their camp in Victor Harbor, South Australia. We have some very excited Year 7 students who are enjoying their first camp as high school students. Enjoy the selection of photos below.
Our Year 9 students headed off on their Central Australia Camp on the morning of Thursday 12 September. They will spend time in Adelaide, Coober Pedy, Alice Springs, Kings Canyon, and Uluru. While the students will get an appreciation of just how big Australia is on the bus trip throughout Central Australia, this year they have the luxury of flying back from Uluru to Melbourne – and then bussing it back to Mildura. We have some students that will be competing in local netball and football Grand Finals, then joining the camp in Alice Springs, whilst we have other students that will be leaving the camp early to join the Italy Study Tour.
I wish all the students enjoyable and safe camps and international tours. These activities are often the highlights of a student’s secondary school experience. I also thank the staff that have and will be supporting our students and these camps.
YEAR 12 MUSIC PERFORMANCE
I was very grateful to attend the Year 12 Music Performance evening on 20 August, where our senior students showcased their individual performances that they will be fine tuning for their end of year performance exam.
I thank Mrs Jennifer Gibson and her team for organising the evening and preparing the students for their performances. We are very fortunate at the college to have some outstanding performers. Well done to Brandon Blake, Cooper Rawlinson, Rose MacAllister, Ivan Wan, Isaac Circosta, and Chase Davy. From what I witnessed, I feel confident that you will achieve great success in your performance exams.
OTHER EVENTS
A reminder to Year 8 students and parents that the Year 8 cohort will be based at the Enright Campus during the last two weeks of term, from Monday 9 to and including Friday 20 September.
We celebrated Footy Colours Day on Friday 6 September. Students were encouraged to dress in their favourite team's gear and bring a gold coin donation. All proceeds from the day will go towards projects planned by the Student Representative Council to improve student facilities and activities.
R U OK? Day is Thursday 12 September. This year's theme is 'Ask R U OK? Any Day'. The Wellbeing team and Wellbeing Captains have organised activities and giveaways. The college places wellbeing at the heart of everything we do, and this commitment to wellbeing is shown through our staffing. We are fortunate to have four wellbeing officers whose sole purpose is to support student wellbeing.
