P&C News
Recently the P&C requested community involvement to create a Ben Venue Cookbook. After much consideration, it has been decided not to pursue the cookbook at this time due to a limited response. Thank you to all the families who did provide some great recipes, we appreciate the effort you went to. In the upcoming newsletters we will share some of the recipes that were submitted. This week's recipe is from Greta Mulready in S3F (see below).
Our next P&C meeting is on the 4th of September, where we will discuss a new mural for the pebbles area - looking at some artists and their designs for the space. We will also be planning for end-of-year events and fundraisers - yes, it's that time already! Hope to see you there.
Greta's Great Damper (Serves 4-6 people)
Ingredients:
2 cups of self-raising flour
1 tsp salt
20g butter (cold and chopped)
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup of water
Optional - honey
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
- Line a tray with baking paper.
- Put the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl. Chop the butter into small cubes, then add that to the bowl. Rub the butter into the flour with your hands to combine.
- Add milk and water. Mix with butter to make a dough. Make sure it’s not too sticky and all the flour is gone.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and lightly knead to a smooth round shape.
- Place on the baking tray, and slice a cross into the top of the dough.
- Bake for 25 minutes on the bottom shelf until golden brown.
- Cut up a slice of warm damper, spread some butter or honey, and enjoy!!!
