Japanese Newsletter Week 11

It’s hard to believe it is now the end of year! I would like to say big thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers again this year – Naho san, Tomoe san and Ryoko san. Rena san and Mika san from Japan also helped us during the year and were very popular with our students. Without them, we would not have been able to achieve what we did this year. And our wonderful Monty students – I am very proud of you trying new words and sentences in every class, learning about something new/different from your own culture. I hope you enjoyed your journey as much as I have. To our parents – thank you for your continuous support and encouragement for language and cultural studies at Monty. I hope our students were able to open their eyes, open their minds and make their hearts bigger and kinder through the experience.

Year 2

Students have been learning how to introduce a pet in Japanese this term. Many can introduce what kind of animal they are and their names as well as their age, and even their size and features. Well done!

Year 3/4s

We have now completed our first Wurundjeri Haiku contest! There were so many beautiful haiku poems that it was very difficult for our judges to choose winners. Congratulations to all the students who entered and the fifteen students who were awarded! A big thank you to our judges for reading their haiku poems: Ms Shakara (Wurundjeri Culture Trainer), Mrs Worsam, Mr Lewis, Miss Margarita, and Mr Takanori Hayakawa (member of the Australian Haiku society).
