Gospel - Mark 1:1-8
Prepare the Way - John the Baptist was a cousin of Jesus who knew very well that Jesus was the Messiah and the Son of God. As crowds came to him to be baptised with water in the River Jordan he spoke to them about the coming of Jesus, who was to follow on from him to continue his ministry. John the Baptist assured the crowds that they needed to be prepared for Jesus, who would baptise them with the Holy Spirit, which would be of greater importance and value in their lives.
Week 2 - Advent
This Advent we are reminding our students to prepare themselves by being alert whilst they prepare for Christmas. During our Advent Liturgy this week, we were able to share that being alert could include being aware of the kindness that they receive from others. Sometimes we take for granted the randomness of acts of kindness from the people we work and hang around with. Sometimes we aren't even aware of the good things people do when we aren't as familiar with them.
We pray that this Advent season helps us to be more open and aware of the goodness in ourselves and each other.
