Today is a great day to be you!

Rangeview Colour Run

What an incredible event we held last Friday afternoon!

I'm sure all members of our wider community who attended would agree that our Year 6 student leaders made a great selection with their end-of-year fundraiser. Seven hundred students running around the school getting covered in water and coloured powder - fun for everyone!

We would like to give a huge shout out to our wonderful Parents & Friends Committee for their support of the Colour Run - thank you for getting behind every aspect of the event and ensuring we had enough help on the day to run it successfully. Thank you also to the Nunawading Fire Service for sending along a fire truck - it was an absolute hit! It was fantastic to see so many Rangeview families come along to support the students - seeing the smiles all around the school was the biggest highlight of all.

As the fundraising component was optional and secondary to simply putting on a fun event, we are still happy to share that the Colour Run has brought in approximately $4500 for the school (final figure still to be determined). This amount will go towards the playground or chicken coop, and the Year 6 student leaders should be proud to know their event will leave a lasting mark on the school that future students will enjoy.

Be You - Educator Wellbeing

On Wednesday afternoon, Tania Balderston (our Leading Teacher for Wellbeing) and I attended an Inner East wellbeing network meeting with other local schools.

A team leader from Be You presented about their programs and aims for schools. Be You is an organisation run by Beyond Blue, and their main objective is to heighten the importance of building mentally healthy learning communities across Australia.

Our learning community at Rangeview extends well beyond the walls of the classrooms; we hope the impact of our school wellbeing programs flows into homes and the lives of our families.

Be You has a strong focus on educator wellbeing and it was wonderful to pick up some more tips and tricks to bring back to the school to ensure our staff are supported and functioning at their optimal level. Many of the resources shared can apply to parents at home and these can all be found on the Be You website - I strongly encourage you to have a browse. I have included two examples below - a wellbeing check-in and a mindfulness fact sheet. Even connecting with one wellbeing tool or strategy (especially over the school holidays) and running with it within your household could make a significant difference to the wellbeing of yourself or your loved ones.
