Year 6 Camp

Last week the year 6s went to camp at The Ranch, which was the first time Our Lady's Primary School went to the Ranch so we didn't know what to expect. When we arrived we got sorted into our cabins. Everyone was happy with who they had been picked to be with for our last camp together. We got time to eat our snacks and got sorted into our activity groups. The activities we did were the giant swing, the flying fox, archery, rock climbing, initiatives , camp scramble and horse riding. The teachers that came with us were Miss Pozzebon, Mr Nolan, Mr Wright, Miss Mikhael, Mr Pietryk, Miss Martin, Miss Elia  and last but not least Miss Claudia.

On the first night we went for a night walk! There was a beautiful sunset! It was really fun, but there was lots of horse poo we had to dodge. The instructor made us do some challenges like finding a tyre in the hills. On the second night we did a trivia night with our cabin groups and it was fun when each person from the group did chubby bunny and the limbo. After we watched Phineas and Ferbs and ate popcorn. Everyone went back to the cabins for a sleep before our last day at The Ranch.

On the last day we had one more activity left to do before we went home. When we woke up we all had to pack our suitcases and put them on the basketball court.  In the chapel everyone sang happy birthday to Dante because it was his birthday! He got a cupcake. We think the most popular activities were the giant swing and horse riding. We all had an amazing time at The Ranch and if we could we would go there again. Thank you to all the teachers for planning this wonderful camp and looking after us and keeping everyone safe.

Choir Excursion

Choir Excursion Recap: A Melody of Memories

We're delighted to share the enchanting tale of our recent choir excursion to the Arts Centre Melbourne! On Tuesday, November 28th, our talented students had the unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world behind the curtains of this iconic cultural hub.

Surprises and Showcases:

Upon arrival our students were treated to a surprise breakdancing performance in front of the State Theatre. To add an extra layer of excitement, some of our very own choir members couldn't resist the rhythm and showcased their dance skills, turning the break into an impromptu celebration of talent and joy.

Backstage Adventures:

Guided by knowledgeable experts, our students embarked on a journey through the intricate labyrinth beneath the Arts Centre Melbourne spire. From uncovering captivating stories to delving into the history and secrets of this cultural landmark, the excursion offered a rare glimpse into the inner workings of a venue that hosts world-class performances every day. Students explored the architectural wonders, experienced the acoustics of sound, and even had the chance to step into the shoes of performers by trying on costumes.

Australian Music Vault Exploration:

After the backstage tour, our choir members were given the opportunity to dive into the rich musical heritage of our nation at the Australian Music Vault. This immersive experience allowed them to deepen their appreciation for the art of music and its impact on Australian culture.

Gratitude and Reflection:

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the students who participated in this excursion, as well as the dedicated teachers and parent helpers who made this unforgettable experience possible. It was a day filled with laughter, learning, and the magic of the performing arts.

Sincerely,

Helena Balazs
