Dewey Decimal System Day - 10th December

The Dewey Decimal System serves as the superhero of libraries, instilling order in the vast sea of books.

Think of it as a magical code that categorizes books by subject, assigning unique numbers to each for easy retrieval. When you see these numbers on the spine, you're on a treasure hunt, with the initial digits guiding you to the general area (e.g., 100s for philosophy, 500s for natural sciences). The decimals act like a magnifying glass, zooming in on specifics within a category (e.g., 520s for astronomy within natural sciences).

Toss in the author's last name, and voila, you've cracked the code to unlock a world of neatly arranged knowledge on library shelves, ready for a literary adventure.

To delve into the history of the Dewey Decimal System, visit us today!

At the library, we adhere to the Dewey Decimal System to organize our collection.
