PRINCIPAL UPDATE

We have made it to the end and what a year it has been.  I have very much enjoyed my first year here, and excited by what we have achieved as the year has flown by.

Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers that have supported us throughout the year, whether it be in the classroom, on excursions, camps, swimming, the Trivia Night, The Fair and so much more.  The time and effort given is paramount to our success as a community.

Thank you to Marie and her team of volunteers that put on a lovely morning tea for staff on Monday.  The treats were delicious and greatly appreciated.

I would like to thank Renita Michielin for her role in teaching LOTE this year, we wish her all the very best in her next adventures.  Along with this, thank you to Olivia Castle and Jan Perez for their work as Educational Support Staff this year.  The students have enjoyed having them in the classrooms and their support was unwavering.

We farewell Sara Brennan, our Business Manager to Oberon High School.  Sara has been an extremely valued and knowledgeable staff member and we wish her all the very best next year.  We welcome Jacquie Clancy to this role and I am sure you will all welcome her in the first few weeks of the term.

We welcome Elise Hultgren to the teaching team next year.  She has met her grade 6 class and had time planning with Jared Shaw.

Please make her welcome next year.

To Mr Jeff Smith, what a wonderful career of 45 years in the Education Sector, with 27 of those years spent at Chilwell. Thousands of students have had the opportunity to have him as a teacher, to engage with his calm and kind nature and nurture them through their achievements within the classroom.  He has touched so many lives that will, I am sure feature in his book of memories.  Even though I have only worked with Jeff for a little over 12 months I have enjoyed every minute, always calm and engaging; a great asset to our school.  The student and staffing community will miss him in the years to come, and look forward to him returning for a visit… Oh and to organise the very complex swimming program that no one is putting their hand up to arrange!!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff for their amazing efforts this year within and around the classroom.  I continue to be motivated by their commitment to the Chilwell students and the community.

Along with this, I wish the grade 6 students all the best with the next part of their educational journey. I have loved getting to know each and every one of them and look forward to hearing about their future successes.

I wish you a happy and healthy break over January and look forward to seeing you in 2024.

Kind regards,

Meg
