Shark Tank eSchool

Emmaus Year 11 Business Innovation students, Aldin R, Keenan K and Tim O (Team AKTion), participated in the MIELab Shark Tank Competition Finals, held on 23 November.

They created a business called Palate Passport App to target 'picky eaters'. The App was designed to encourage children to try new foods using gamification and earning rewards online, connected to food-based soft toys to allow young children to be able to 'play' with their food.

This entrepreneurship-based competition is run statewide in South Australian schools with groups of students pitching their business plan to an initial panel of judges who choose the top nine teams in three categories (Digital, Environmental and General) to send through to the Finals.

Team AKTion pitched their idea to the Sharks in the Finals and answered some very challenging questions. They did exceptionally well, coming in second place in the Digital category.

Congratulations to all the teams who participated, and we are excited to see what the future holds for our budding entrepreneurs!

ASX Schools Sharemarket Game 2 Winner

Congratulations to Year 10 Student, Ilya S who has won the State title in the ASX Schools Share Market Game 2 and taken 7th place overall!

Our intrepid Emerald House Pastoral Coordinator (10-12) and Christian Studies/CCAPP Coordinator (7-12) Michael Worley says,

"I have run the competition over the past five years and have seen students return each year to build on their skills. It is always pleasing walking around the school and seeing groups of students hovering over their laptops discussing their reasons for their next trade! I’m thankful for the opportunity for students to engage in real-life learning and develop deep knowledge that they can apply to their own life journey."

All competitors receive $50,000 in virtual cash to invest over a 10-week period and use live market conditions to test their resolve, skills, and knowledge of the market.

Emmaus Christian College Outreach and Streetlight

Our Year 10 students were asked to support the charity Streetlight.

They collected over 40 packets of Zooper Doopers to support Streetlight, a charity helping young people in need

Ben Rowe, the charity's founder, inspired them at camp with the mission and achievements of this worthy cause. Huge thanks to all who contributed – your generosity is truly heartwarming. Jess from Streetlight shared, 'Your donation of Zooper Doopers is a fantastic, practical way to build rapport with young people facing tough times.'

Together, we're making a real impact!

Pray for Ben and his team as they work to make a difference in the lives of young people around Adelaide.
