Chaplain's Corner 2023

Kaya Marangaroo community,

The weather has definitely been interesting the last couple of weeks. I packed the winter woollies away ….. and then I find myself taking them out again 😊

The ‘dad joke’ competition is going well with our first winners receiving their icy poles in week 5. Three winners are drawn every Tuesday and every Thursday and will end in week 9. Students can find entry forms in the front office where the competition entry box is also kept. In week 10 an overall winner will be chosen from the weekly winners and receive a $30 Coles Myer gift voucher – good luck!

Here are our winners so far,

A. When does a joke become a dad joke? When it becomes a parent.

B. A shrimp found a bunch of treasure. He didn’t want to share any of it. He was being kinda shellfish.

C. What did the sushi A say to the sushi B? Wasabi 🤙🤙

D. What do you call an octopus that works at the theatre? An Actopus........

Breakfast club is every Tuesday and Thursday, the numbers have slowly been increasing. We are focusing on properly greeting adults, manners and sitting down while having breakfast.

For parents with children experiencing anxiety the following link is a free online support tool you can access through the Triple P parenting website. https://www.triplep-parenting.net.au/au/hot-parenting-topics/coping-with-fear-anger-and-sadness/

For your child and you as parents, you can access the free BRAVE program that was developed through the university of Queensland in Brisbane. There are 2 programs, one for children (aged 8-12 years) and one for parents. Any child who worries about things will find the program useful. Any parent wanting to learn more about how to help their child overcome worries can also complete the program. https://brave4you.psy.uq.edu.au/child-program

There are not many days of school left for 2023, that means that there are also not many days left till Christmas. Have a wonderful holiday season!

I will leave you with an inspirational quote from L.R. Knost –

“Respond to your children with love in:

Their worst moments

Their broken moments

Their angry moments

Their selfish moments…

…. It is in their most unlovable human moments that they most need to feel loved.”
