International Day of People with Disability

On Monday 27 November, Senior School students and Junior School students from Years 4 to 6 attended a special assembly in honour of the International Day of People with Disability, which this year fell on Sunday 3 December.

In the assembly, students were joined by special guest Eliza Hull, who is a proud disability advocate and woman of many talents. Eliza has authored several books for both children and adults sharing her own experiences with disability as well as the stories of others with disabilities and chronic illnesses. She is also an award-winning musician and songwriter.

Eliza shared insights from her own experience living with the condition 'Charcot Marie Tooth', before treating the students to a performance of her song 'Running Underwater'.

The assembly was a moving experience for both students and staff, reminding attendees about the importance of listening to the experiences of people with disabilities, challenging our attitudes and perceptions, and thinking about ways we can create a more inclusive community for everyone.
