GREAT DAY OUT - Year 5&6 CRICKET BLAST

What a fabulous day of sunshine and cricket our three Year 5&6 Cricket Blast teams had Friday fortnight ago!  With such wonderful support for our teams by our volunteering parents, we were so excited to get the students out on the fields playing against our other Dendy schools.

All three teams enjoyed playing their four to five Cricket Blast games over the day against other Dendy District schools, experiencing a mixture of skill-practise and development opportunities, winning and losing games, game-sense progress and enjoyment of playing in a team sport.

A massive thank you goes out to our AMAZING parent helpers; Selena Webb, Sabine Leiteritz, Nat Gattuso, Carla O’Brien, Alastair McCausland, Simon Lucas, Lia Nunn and Susan Rowe who were brilliant in helping score and support their child’s team on the day.  We also appreciate the super efforts of Miss Happell and Mr Anderson for their supervision and scoring efforts as well.

EXCITEMENT +  REGIONAL HOOPTIME

Last Thursday our eight Year 3&4 Junior Future Stars Flames team members all travelled to Dandenong Basketball Stadium to play in the Regional HoopTime Junior Future Stars finals.  What a fantastic day it was for them!  Right from game 1, the team didn’t take long to ‘find their mojo’ and work well as a team on court.  Over our six pool games, the team won all games barr one, winning 12-7, 8-4, 10-8, 19-1 and 18/8, and their loss a 12/18.  Their superb efforts, team-spirit and bonding as a team over the day was such a credit to each and everyone of them!  All eight students are to be congratulated on their amazing positive mind-sets, team-efforts and 110% on-court sportspersonship over the day!  They definitely represented our school to the best of their abilities!

In making it through to the semi finals, the team gave it their all in their game, however, came up against a very strong team with some super talented and tall players. Despite a galant final few minutes come-back, the team were defeated by a mere 3 points as the final buzzer sounded…

This is where this team’s efforts did not go unnoticed!  It was such a thrill to then receive an email on Friday, giving us the good news that the team has been granted a wildcard to now participate in the HoopTime State -  Woohoo!

We wish these 8 students all the very best for their day out at State Finals on Thursday 8th December: Ryder B (3P), Harry S (3G), Charlie T (3G), Leo K (4M), Lachy S (3P), Sadie H (3P), Allegra O (3G) & Boston O (3P).

A massive thank you goes to Coach Nicole Speers for her brilliant calm, cool and collected approach with the team over the day, along with Carla O’Brien and Kate Blake who stepped up for each stressful game to score for us!  Thanks also goes to all family members that brought the team out to Dandenong and popped in over the day to cheer them along!

 NEXT FRIDAY!

 WHOLE SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL

Many thanks to all families that have accepted permission for their child/ren to attend next Friday’s Swimming carnival at MSAC pool (Friday 24th November).  As this is a whole school event with so many involved, it’s very much appreciated if everyone can please accept permission for their child to attend, or promptly inform your child’s class teacher if unable to attend.  Thank you…

PARENT HELPERSA massive thank you to the dozens of parents that have offered their time & efforts with the Junior or Senior, or both carnivals!  Sooo grateful…

*PLEASE ASSUME YOUR SUPPORT & TIME IS REQUIRED*.  An email will go out to all helpers with their specific role and confirmed time of support by Monday 20th.

*IMPORTANT REMINDERS*

HOUSE SWIMMING CAPS:  Please ensure your child/ren have their House coloured swimming cap set to go.  Replacement house-coloured high quality silicon caps can be purchased from the office for $8, if required.

Year 3-6 EVENT SELECTION:  This week all classes have shown the students a summary of the events that students have selected to swim in.  If your child hasn’t already, please get them to write them down on a piece of paper - to take to the carnival for a quick-reference guide.  It helps when students know what they’re to marshall for.  Many thanks!

Many thanks,

Tania Thompson
