Deputy Principal's Report

Dear Families,

As we find ourselves on the brink of the Advent season, a time that encourages reflection, anticipation, and the spirit of giving, let us collectively turn our attention to a timeless virtue that holds the power to transform lives—kindness.

In a world that can sometimes feel fast-paced and demanding, kindness acts as a beacon of light, guiding us through challenges and connecting us in ways that transcend words. As we prepare for the season of Advent, let's pause to reflect on the profound impact that simple acts of kindness can have on our school community and beyond.

Prep Giraffe Adoption

In early August, Brad Edwards (father of Lacey in Prep) did a tour of Namibia, catching and tagging giraffes with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation.

He was able to go on this adventure with his good friend Julian Fennessy who runs the Foundation. Julian is well known for his work in conservation in Africa and was featured on a Sir David Attenborough documentary a few years ago!

To get our Preps involved, Brad adopted a giraffe for each of the three 2023 Prep classes. Each class went onto the Giraffe Conservation Foundation website and chose their giraffe. Prep LA chose a giraffe called 'Ninja', Prep MU chose a giraffe called 'Coffee Bean' and Prep AD chose a giraffe called 'Dobby'. Each of these giraffes live in Namibia in Africa. Brad is also in the process of organising some nice momentos for the Preps to take home.

It was great to get the students involved and teach them the importance of giraffe conservation in Africa. It all ties in beautifully with the PYP "Sharing the Planet" Transdisciplinary Theme.

A big thank you to Brad for his amazing work and organisation.
