'BOOK AN ADVENTURE' – Book Fair Coming Soon (Term 3 Wk 3)
We are hosting a Scholastic Book Fair to be held on Tuesday 5th, Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th August. On Thursday 7th August, students are invited to attend school wearing costumes to participate in the Book Week Character Parade, attended by parents and grandparents. The theme this year is 'Book an Adventure'.
We are pleased to advise that the Fair will be open for Boorowa Central School students, parents, and visitors in the school library. You and your child will have the opportunity to explore a range of affordable books featuring subjects that students love and want to read about. Every book sold benefits our school, adding resources to our library and classrooms.
Wish Lists before the Fair
Primary and infants’ teachers will take students to the library to view this year's Scholastic Book Fair selections and make their Wish Lists on Monday 4th August before the Fair.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- year of schooling
- category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
- formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy(https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
Check-in Assessment 2025
During Term 3 students will participate in the Check-in assessment.
The Check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online literacy and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor student learning.
The assessment can supplement existing school practices to identify how students are performing in literacy and numeracy and to help teachers tailor their teaching more specifically to student needs. Students with disability may receive the same level of support during the assessment they would normally receive in the classroom.
- The assessment will be scheduled for our Year 7,8 and 9 students during Week 1-5, Term 3.
- The assessment will be scheduled for our 3, 4, 5 and 6 students during weeks 6-9, Term 3.
- All students complete a reading assessment and a numeracy assessment. Year 6 students will also complete a writing assessment.
Secondary students may bring headphones or earbuds that plug into a computer to enable them to hear audio during the assessment. There are headphones available at school for use also. Years 3-6 will have headphones supplied.
If you have any questions, please contact Denise Corkhill or Rach Taylor (LaST) at school.
