Senior Years Learning Community

Senior Years - Term 3 Weeks 1 & 2
English
In the first two weeks, we’ve focused on Informational Reports—learning about their structure, including an introduction, grouped facts under subheadings, and a conclusion. We also began reading Tom Appleby, Convict Boy to support our understanding of historical contexts. Our vocabulary focus included words like grasp, lingering, occupied, and resolved, along with work on prefixes and suffixes to build word knowledge.
Maths
In Maths, we've been focusing on Fractions—learning how to add and subtract fractions with both the same and different denominators. Students have been building their confidence by finding common denominators, simplifying answers, and using their new OCHRE Maths Book to apply their answers.
Inquiry
Our Inquiry focus has been on Cyber Safety. We've explored how to stay safe and responsible online, using the eSafety Commissioner website as a key resource. Students have learned about protecting personal information, recognising online risks, and where to go for help when needed.
Religious Education
In RE, we’ve been learning about Sacred Stories—exploring their meanings, messages, and importance in different faith traditions. Students have been discussing how these stories guide values, actions, and beliefs in everyday life.
