Principal's Message

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Thank you for your participation in the Parent / Teacher Interviews that have been conducted this week. These interviews are designed to give you a snapshot of how your child  has performed in the first half of the school year. Preparation for these interviews (as was outlined in the previous Newsletter) is a great way of ensuring you, as a parent, get the maximum benefit from this opportunity.

Sydney Catholic Schools has published a document to assist parents/carers better understand the Reports. This document can be accessed here.

My thanks to all the teachers who made themselves available throughout the late afternoon and early evening to support parents who were unable to make it at other times.

On behalf of all our staff I wish all our students a safe and relaxing break. And, hopefully, for everyone else you at least get a break from the exhausting morning routines!

Just a reminder that Term 3 begins, for ALL students, on MONDAY 21 JULY.

Steve Darcy (Principal)

STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY

Tomorrow (Friday 4 July) will be a designated STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY. As all staff will be off-site for a Spirituality experience, the school will be closed.

STAFF NEWS

A number of staff will be taking leave at the start of Term 3.

Miss Hindmarch (5 weeks) will be replaced by Miss Rebecca Redwin, Miss Sherman (4 weeks) will be replaced by Miss Bianca Fakhouri and Miss Pedic (3 weeks) will be replaced by Miss Plunkett.

Also, as I announced on Monday, Mrs Nicole Atkins has resigned from her position here at St. Patrick's to return to Brewarrina, where she has worked previously. We thank Nicole for her many years of service in our school and her contribution has been greatly appreciated. We wish her well for the future.

SUTHERLAND NETWORK PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION

Our School will once again be involved in the Sutherland Network Public Speaking Competition this year. Involving a number of local Catholic Primary Schools it provides students with an opportunity to develop their confidence when speaking in front of a group of people. The Competition consists of a number of rounds before the winners from Stage 2 (Year 3 + Year 4) and Stage 3 (Year 5 + Year 6) meet in the final at the start of Term 4.

More information will be sent home next Term.

WEEKLY AWARDS

Beginning at the start of next Term, Parents/Carers will be notified on the Wednesday when your child is receiving a class award on the Friday. This will be an opportunity for you to attend this assembly and see them receive their award if you can make it.

This change of practice was a suggestion that was put forward at the Parent Forum held in Term 1.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

There have a number of notifications sent home through COMPASS informing families that their children have presented to school NOT wearing the correct school uniform.

If, for any reason your child NEEDS to wear an incorrect item (e.g. shoes, trousers, dress etc) please send the class teacher a note explaining why.
