Boarding

An address by Mrs Andrew
As we approach the final stretch of Term 2, the Kambala Boarding House has been full of energy and activity. The recent King’s Birthday long weekend offered a welcome opportunity for many of our girls to return home, rest, and recharge ahead of the final three weeks of term.
A highlight of the past week was the election of our new Boarding Senior Leaders. After delivering thoughtful and inspiring speeches, five Year 10 candidates put themselves forward for the role. We are pleased to announce that Eve Leelathayphawan and Eva Heckendorf have been selected to represent the Boarding House for the next 12 months as the Boarding Senior Leaders. They will work closely with the Boarding Prefects to organise events for our boarders, raise funds for our chosen boarding charity, and serve as advocates for all girls in our community.
We warmly congratulate Eve and Eva and look forward to supporting them as they begin this exciting leadership journey.
With only a few weeks remaining in the term, we are looking forward to finishing strong—together, with purpose, positivity, and pride in our boarding house.

Kambala Boarders Reach New Heights
On Sunday 15th June, the Kambala Boarders swapped their books for harnesses and courage as they took on an exciting rock climbing challenge. The Rec outing was not only a chance to test their physical strength but also a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, resilience, and teamwork.
For many girls, this was their very first experience on the climbing wall. With nerves turning into excitement, they learned how to set personal goals, overcome fears, and cheer each other on to reach the top. Laughter, encouragement, and determination filled the air as everyone gave their best effort — whether scaling the beginner routes or bravely attempting the more challenging climbs.
Beyond the physical challenge, the day was a great reminder of the power of support and friendship. The girls encouraged each other with every step, celebrated every small victory, and left with a shared sense of achievement.
We love seeing our Boarders embrace these opportunities to try new things, step outside their comfort zones, and create memories that will last far beyond the school gates.
Well done to all who participated — we can’t wait to see where your courage takes you next!
Farewell Eleanor, our beloved Gappy!
We want to extend a big thank you to our wonderful GAP student, Eleanor, for all she has contributed to the Kambala Boarding House over the past year.
Eleanor has been a kind and calming presence for our girls—always willing to lend a hand, share a smile, and offer support when needed. She quickly became known for her exceptional sewing skills, often mending uniforms and helping with creative projects, as well as her enthusiastic involvement in our much-loved theme nights.
We are delighted that this is not goodbye just yet! Eleanor will be staying in Sydney as she begins her university studies and, to our great joy, will continue working with us in the Boarding House. We look forward to many more shared memories, laughs, and late-night sewing sessions.
Thank you, Eleanor, for your warmth, generosity, and dedication. We’re so lucky to have you as part of our boarding community.
Eleanor’s time at Kambala has been marked by connection, adventure, and community. Reflecting on her Gap Year, she recalls a clear highlight—the unforgettable trip to New Zealand’s South Island.
“The best trip during my time here was when I went to the South Island of NZ in a campervan for two weeks with the Gap students from Ascham,” Eleanor shared. “Since then, I’ve formed really strong friendships with so many great Gappies from other schools.”
Beyond the travel and fun, it’s the Kambala community that has left a lasting impression. “It’s a wonderful community to be part of,” she says. “I’m looking forward to coming back as a Boarding Supervisor.”
Eleanor’s journey is a testament to the lifelong connections and opportunities that grow from a Gap Year well spent, both on the road and right here at Kambala.
