Principal's Message

Wishing You a Wonderful Weekend

We hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. Hopefully, the rain will ease, and you will all get the chance to enjoy some quality time with family and friends.

Building Update

Exciting progress continues on our new building, and we remain on track to use this space in the later stages of Term 2. By the end of this term, we will provide families with a detailed update on the building, including logistics for moving into the new spaces. We appreciate your patience and support during this period of growth for our school.

Reconciliation with Fr Vic

This week, our Secondary students had the opportunity to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation with Fr Vic. In the Catholic Church, Reconciliation (also known as Confession or Penance) is a sacrament of healing. It allows individuals to seek forgiveness for their sins, renew their relationship with God, and receive His grace. This sacrament is especially important during Lent, as it prepares us spiritually for Easter by calling us to repentance and renewal. Thank you to Fr Vic for leading our students in this important part of their faith journey.

Congratulations to our Secondary Touch Football Team

Congratulations to our Secondary students who competed in the Touch Football event in Inverell yesterday. We are proud of your efforts, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Well done!

Date with Data Meetings

We look forward to seeing as many families as possible at our upcoming Date with Data meetings over the next two weeks. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to discuss student progress, goals, and learning achievements. Your partnership in education is greatly appreciated.

Update on Moree Zone Sporting Pathway

Recently, Heidi Hardaker, Armidale Catholic Schools K-6 Sport Coordinator, received communication regarding the participation of St Philomena’s Moree students and St Joseph’s Mungindi students in the Moree Zone Swimming, Cross Country, and Athletics Representative School Sport Pathway (RSSP) events.

The Executive Officer of the North West School Sports Association from the Department of Education informed Heidi of the decision not to allow the participation of Catholic school students in these local Moree Zone School Sport Association RSSP events, competing against Moree Public Schools. We understand that some families are frustrated by this decision, as these events have been a great opportunity for our students to compete alongside their peers in the local community. However, this decision was made by the North West School Sports Association and is beyond our control. As a result, Catholic school students are no longer eligible to compete in these local Moree Zone events.

Catholic school students continue to have the opportunity to progress through their designated pathway system to represent Polding at NSWPSSA state championship events via their Diocese (Armidale). The ability for students to compete in NSWPSSA events occurs at the upper level, following diocesan and Polding events. Similarly, public school students follow their own pathways and do not participate in Catholic school sporting pathways.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Heidi Hardaker at 0427 958 331.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and we wish you all a fantastic weekend!
