Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
As we stretch beyond the halfway point of Term 1, it’s been fantastic to see the energy and engagement across the school at both campuses. From the classroom to the sports field and beyond, our students continue to demonstrate curiosity, resilience and a commitment to their learning. Please see below for some timely updates and reminders.
Labour Day Public Holiday – Monday, 10 March
A friendly reminder that Monday, 10 March, is the Labour Day public holiday. This means the school will be closed for the day, and classes will resume as usual on Tuesday, 11 March.
Labour Day is an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of workers and enjoy a well-earned break. We hope our students, families, and staff take the time to rest, recharge, and spend quality time together.
Enjoy the long weekend!
NAPLAN Testing
As noted in previous weeks, The NAPLAN test period will be running during week 7 and 8 for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Students will complete the following four assessments:
Writing
Reading
Language Conventions
Numeracy
If your child is absent on the date of a scheduled assessment, they will complete a catch-up assessment when they return, within the testing period. Just a reminder to ensure that your child's device is fully charged before they come to school. We wish all our students well for these assessments and look forward to using the achievement data to further inform the direction of our school.
Prep Students Begin Full Time Schooling
Over the past few weeks, our Prep students have gradually settled into school life, adjusting to new experiences, making friends, and developing foundational skills.
From Monday, March 3, our Prep students began attending school full-time, five days a week. This marks an important step in their learning journey, fostering routine, social growth, and deeper engagement in classroom activities.
Our dedicated teachers planned engaging lessons to ensure a smooth transition. Parents can support by maintaining routines and offering encouragement as students adjust. We are proud of our Prep students and look forward to their continued growth. Exciting Times Ahead!
Respectful Parent Communication
At our school, we value open and respectful communication between parents, families, and staff. We understand that from time to time, parents may have concerns or issues they wish to address. To ensure a smooth and effective resolution process, we ask that parents first communicate directly with their child’s class teacher. In most cases, teachers are best placed to provide insight and support regarding any concerns. If further assistance is required after speaking with the teacher, the matter can then be escalated to the Assistant Principal.
In regard to complaints, we kindly ask that our Complaints Policy be followed, which can be found on our school website. By following this structured approach, we can work collaboratively towards positive outcomes while maintaining a calm and orderly school environment.
We appreciate your support in fostering a respectful and constructive school community.
‘Kiss & Go’ Parking Trial – Coaching Parade Campus
In consultation with the council, a ‘Kiss & Go’ section of parking will soon be trialled at the Coaching Parade Campus to improve traffic flow and safety during drop-off and pick-up times.
As part of this trial, the council will be installing three 2-minute parking spaces just outside the entrance gate. These signs are expected to be in place within the next 3–4 weeks.
This is a trial phase, meaning the council may adjust, extend, or remove the spaces based on how well they work. If successful, the parking spots will also be painted for greater visibility.
We appreciate your cooperation in using these spaces correctly to ensure a smooth and safe process for our school community.
Building Works Update
As shared via a XUNO email to families last week, our school upgrade is moving forward! With $37.321 million from the 2023-24 State Budget, we’ll expand to accommodate more students and enhance learning spaces.
The design phase is complete, and the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is selecting a builder.
In preparation for construction, six relocatable buildings will be removed from the central school area and Saltwater Promenade on weekends to minimise disruption. Contractors will also set up temporary fencing and amenities.
Thank you for your support, we’ll share more details once a builder is confirmed.
Thank you,
On behalf of the Leadership Team
