Foundation Fire Education

On Friday 7th March, to coincide with the Foundation Term 1 Inquiry topic 'Community Helpers', our students were visited by firefighters to commence Fire Education.

During this incursion, the firefighters spoke to students with an  interactive presentation introducing the topics of:

  • Firefighters are Helpers
  • Good fires and bad fires
  • Crawl Low in Smoke
  • Safe Meeting Place
  • What is an Emergency? 000 (Triple Zero)

A second session is planned for the 2nd of May to revise the topics from the first visit and introduce students to the topics of:

  • Safe Meeting Places
  • Stop Drop Cover Roll (what to do if your clothes catch fire).
  • A visit to the fire truck

Foundation Peter Pirate Penguin Party

Happy Birthday Peter Penguin! On Friday 7th March our Foundation students had a fabulous day dressing up as pirates and penguins, parading, playing party games and searching for treasure. They also enjoyed a delicious party lunch (thank you parents for the wonderful spread). So much fun learning about the letter 'P'.

Here are some more photos!

NAPLAN - Level 3 and Level 5

Next week from Wednesday, our Level 3 and Level 5 students will commence the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) testing.

Students will participate in Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy tests. All are completed online, except for the Level 3 Writing test, which continues in 2025 on paper. Tests range between 40 and 50 minutes in length.

Students are not expected to study for NAPLAN. You can support your child by reassuring them that NAPLAN is a part of their school program and reminding them to simply do their best.

It is necessary that students are on time for school on NAPLAN testing mornings. A late student will not be able to take part and will be provided a time for a make-up test where possible.

NAPLAN dates at Rangeview Primary School are as follows:

Wednesday 12th March

9.00-11.00 Level 3 Writing

12.00-1.30 Level 5 Writing

Where possible, we may arrange for individual students who are absent at the time of testing to complete missed tests at another time during the school’s test schedule after the main cohort test.

If you have any concerns, please speak to your child’s teacher.

Safe Drop Off and Pick Up of Students

We do recognise that with our school surrounded by houses, drop off and pick up parking is limited, however student safety is paramount and it is important to follow all signage.

  • Please adhere to the parking signs.

  • Please do not use the school driveway as a pick up or drop off park. We have a number of vehicles that need to enter the car park for disabled access, and we cannot have the driveway blocked at any time.

  • Please be respectful of our neighbours and do not do stop vehicles across driveways.

  • The 'Kiss & Go' park is for drop off only. Please do not use this as a car park, the driver must stay with the car, allow the student to get out of the car, and then move on.

  • Please do not double park, this blocks the road and is very dangerous for students getting out of cars.

We thank everyone for their support with drop off and pick up time.
