A Message from Keir and Emma

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”

‘Wild’ Performance at the Sydney Rd Festival
Congratulations to all of the students who performed to a large crowd at the Sydney Road Festival yesterday. It was fantastic to see so many members of the public enjoying all that last year’s Wild production had to offer! As is always the case, students worked through their nerves to support each other and to problem solve, with a good dose of positive self-talk thrown in! Performing in a group dance performance requires so many skills; memory retention, teamwork, rhythm and kinaesthetic awareness being just a few from the long list. Well done to Jenny and to all of the students who performed!
Visiting the school during school hours
A very important reminder to all Parents/Carers and members of our community; If you are visiting the school any time after 9.15am you must enter the school through the front office and inform someone there of your visit and intention. If you are picking up your child, a member of the admin team will then arrange for the student to meet you at the front office. If your child requires support to make their way there, we can arrange a member of staff to escort them. If you are there for an appointment or to volunteer with our students, you will be asked to sign in, to acknowledge that you support our Child Safe Standards, and given a lanyard to wear. If it’s your first volunteer visit, we will ask to see your physical Working With Children card.
Beginning this week, all gates (except the front office entry gate) will be locked after 9.15am. Staff have been asked to question any parent/carer or community member found in the yard after 9.15, and to redirect them to the front office if they do not have a visitor’s lanyard. We apologise if this upsets or inconveniences everyone, but we are sure you will all agree that child safety is of extreme importance.
If you are visiting Sprout in the morning, you do not need a visitor’s lanyard, and you do not need to check in through the front office. All Sprout visitors will, however, need to exit through the front (Culloden St) gate, as it will be the only gate that is unlocked.
Labor Day
A reminder to families that there is no school next Monday 10th March, for the Labor Day public holiday. We will publish next week’s newsletter on Tuesday 11th March.
GAS (Goals, Adjustments & Strategies) Meetings
This week, teachers are scheduling the GAS meetings for students who require significant adjustments made in order for them to access the learning program. GAS students are those who require these adjustments but are not funded under the PSD or DI programs. GAS meetings will usually take place in the classroom with the class teacher. If you believe that your child requires a GAS meeting and you have not yet heard from their teacher, please contact them through Sentral.
