Principal's Report

Principal's Message
Kindergarten 2026
In the coming weeks we will begin to plan our transition to school program for 2026. This comprehensive program enables our students to make a strong start to school and we see the benefits of this in their progress.
To manage this program we need to know our numbers so that we can timetable release, organise buddies and communicate with families about dates and times. If you have a child coming to Boambee in 2026 please complete your enrolment ASAP. This can be completed via our website or by coming in to the office to complete a paper copy.

Harmony Day
Harmony Day for Boambee Public school will be celebrated on Wednesday April 2nd. Harmony Day is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
If any parents/carers would like to present to the class, and share their personal cultural background, we are inviting you to make contact with your class teacher via Seesaw so that we can allocate you some time on Harmony Day. Harmony Day visits and presentations will occur between 9-10 am. Please note that the date does not align with actual Harmony Day due to the cyclone disruptions, NAPLAN, Interviews and other planned events.
Cyclone Alfred
I must congratulate our students, parents and staff for the way you all responded to the disruptions caused by Cyclone Alfred. Whilst we handled this all very well, we are still dealing with infrastructure issues that have resulted. Our Year 6 class has had to move to the library while their room is repaired, these repairs will take at least another week. This has meant that the library routine has been disrupted for up to a month. There has been no borrowing and library has been delivered in classrooms. Routine is at the core of a calm and orderly learning environment and this has disrupted our routines. In particular students with special needs find this unsettling. I thank you in advance for your patience whilst we work through these disruptions.
3 Way Interviews
Thank you to all of the families who participated in the 3 way interviews over the past weeks. These meetings are crucial to maximising your children's success at school. A special thanks to our teachers for their efforts making themselves available for so many afternoons and mornings, I am sure that you all appreciate the commitment and care our staff show towards our children at Boambee Public School.
Communication with Teachers
Boambee Public School teachers are amazing, utilising our Seesaw app regularly to share learning and communicate with parents.
If you have an urgent question or communication for your child's teacher, you should call the office. For example - a message about a pickup change may not be seen by a teacher in the middle of the day, potentially resulting in a child on the wrong bus. A day in the life of a teacher is extremely busy and they may not check Seesaw messages every day, they are certainly not expected to be checking them when they are at home with their families. A reasonable timeframe for a response on Seesaw is 24-48 hours.
If you would like to request a meeting with your child's teacher, please request a meeting via Seesaw or the front office. Arriving unannounced before a school day asking to speak to a teacher is not a suitable time. Teachers are getting ready to deliver for the day, requiring resource set up, essential communications with colleagues, administration and possibly before school duties. These responsibilities require 100% of our teacher’s attention and they are unable give a parent conversation the attention it deserves during this time, unless they have the opportunity to be prepared.
Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
It was fantastic to have so many people at the P and C AGM this week - you are all wonderful. Congratulations to Tas Alam who will continue as P&C President, Kirra Eade as Vice President, Megan Singleton as treasurer and Sarah Edwards as secretary.
