Exciting Updates from Our Environmental Leaders
Our Environmental Leaders’ meetings are in full swing, and we’ve already had a fantastic start to the year! Our latest meeting was productive and inspiring, with plenty of great ideas discussed. Here’s what we’ve been working on and what’s ahead!
Our Current Projects
Continuing Our New Food Journey – Exploring ways to make our school more sustainable through lunchbox packaging-Children will be talking to their families about soft plastics what they are why they matter and how to dispose of them properly at home.
Soft Plastics Education – Environmental leaders are excited to create and share an environmental PowerPoint presentation in classes to educate students on the impact of soft plastics.
Science Experiment in Progress – We’ve launched an investigation into the effects of salt water on soft plastics and will be monitoring the results over time.
Caring for Our Gardens – Our team has been actively maintaining the gardens, watering our new gumtrees every morning. We are learning about companion planting to help our plants grow naturally together.
Foundation Buddy Project – We’re excited to be teaming up with our Foundation buddies for a hands-on gardening project! Together, we’ll be working in the veggie patch to repair and rejuvenate the space.
Composting is Back – A huge thank you to Michaela and the Breakfast Club community for all their hard work in keeping our composting program running! Thanks to their efforts, we now have rich, healthy compost that will help rejuvenate our veggie patch and support new plant growth.
We're so proud of our students enthusiasm and commitment to sustainability stay tuned for more updates as we continue to make a positive impact in our school environment!
