A notice and reminder to Year 10 students and parents that Pre-Driver Education will take place in Week 9, from Monday 15th through to Wednesday 17th June. A timetable and details on costs to families will be available closer to the time. Parents are reminded that they may be eligible for CSEF funding, which can be used to cover all or part of the cost of this program. Please contact the school for details.
An early reminder to Year 11 and 12 students and their families that they will have the opportunity to attend a two-day retreat at the conclusion of this term. More information on the itinerary will be released early next week. Parents are reminded that they may be eligible for CSEF funding, which can be used to cover all or part of this program. Please contact the school for details.
Sue Clay, our CEP coordinator, has two days’ worth of appointments left this term:
I would strongly encourage all Year 10-12 students to be proactive and make a booking themselves. It is important to note that the demand for appointments increases in Term 3, as subject selections start to occur for Year 10 students, and Year 12 students start applying for tertiary courses. Sue can provide assistance with Work Experience, SEAS applications, Scholarships, Early Entry programs, accommodation and course preferences. I encourage students to take full advantage of the times that are available now.
Students studying a Year 10 or Unit 1 (Year 11) VCE subject will sit exams in Week 8 of this term. These exams will run from Tuesday 9th to Thursday 11th June. An exam timetable and exam protocols will be provided to students next week, and these will be posted on the Compass Newsfeed for students’ and parents’ reference. All Year 10 and 11 students are expected to attend school as per normal during the exam period, using spare blocks to study. Students are required to wear their school uniform during the exam period.
On Tuesday 19th June (Week 9), all students studying a Unit 3/4 VCE, VCE VM or scored VET subject are required to sit the GAT. A pamphlet outlining the nature and expectations of this compulsory assessment has been provided to all students that will sit it, and will be posted to Compass later today. Please note that the exam starts at 9.00 am, so students must be on site prior to this. Please contact the school for more information if you have any questions, concerns, or require additional support.
After labouring their way through a SAC, the Year 11 Physics students got to pull apart a plug and a power board as an introduction to their new topic on electronics.

Year 11 and 12 Biology students have been working hard to design and run investigations into topics of their own choosing. Sarah investigated the effect of natural and artificial disinfectants on the growth of bacteria. James investigated the effect of native environment on stomatal density in leaves. Ruby investigated the effect of NaCl concentration on the rate and direction of osmosis. More photos to come of Heidi, who investigated the effect of leave-side on stomatal density and Amali who investigated the effect of sucrose concentration on the rate and direction of osmosis.

Maggie and Sarah ran team building for Year 11 students this morning. The success with which the teams were able to communicate with each other varied, and might be something to work on in the Year 11 class.

Program Update
The 2026 Work Experience group has officially wrapped up their fundraising efforts for the year and can now turn their attention towards organising placements for their upcoming two-week Melbourne program at the end of Term 4.
Over the coming months, students will begin making contact with businesses and workplaces to secure placements in areas connected to their future interests and career pathways. This is an exciting stage of the program, giving students the opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience, develop workplace skills and explore potential career opportunities.
The 2027 Work Experience group has also begun their fundraising efforts, recently assisting with catering last week. It has been pleasing to see students already getting involved and making a positive start towards next year’s Melbourne program.

During the Term 1 holidays, Cooper P. achieved an outstanding result by winning the Under 16 Australian National Beach SAMBO Championship held in Glenelg, South Australia.
SAMBO is a combat sport and martial art that combines elements of wrestling and self-defence. Cooper performed strongly in his championship match to claim the national title and has now qualified to compete in Brisbane for the World Championships later this year.
Congratulations to Cooper on this fantastic achievement. We look forward to following his progress and future opportunities in the sport.
