Student Wellbeing

Introducing Jacinta, our Secondary School Nurse.

Some students will know Jacinta as one of the organisers of the Buloke Youth Health Expo. However, the Secondary School Nurse program is much more than organising a biennial event or fixing scraped knees and supplying icepacks.

School nurses can help you in many ways, from being a kind person listening, to helping with navigating the healthcare system, finding funding for care, goal setting and problem solving, supporting teachers in the classroom, supporting school admin with developing health support plans and policies, working with staff around ideal lunchboxes and food at school, and coordinating health and wellbeing focussed events at school.

The Secondary School Nurse is employed by the Department of Education and is in your school to support student health and wellbeing and promote better health in the wider community.

The Secondary School Nursing is available to all secondary students, and you don’t need a referral.  So, call in to the Wellbeing room, or see the brochure in the front office, for more information about the Secondary School Nurse and to organise a chat.

Health Tool Kit Tips

Vaccinate to keep everyone around you safe

There really is no way to make getting a vax shot sound like fabulous fun. But it is one of the most important things you can do for your own health and for those around you.

It is now that time of year when all types of media are promoting the annual flu (influenza) shot and the RSV (respiratory syncytial virus). The message ‘Don’t risk the flu’ is something we all need to act on.

The information this year emphasises that it is safe, and the annual vaccination is the most important measure to prevent influenza and its complications. It is recommended for all people aged 6 months and older.

Men's Health Week 15-21 June, 2026

If Men’s Health Week is on your radar, call into the Wellbeing room during recess on Thursday 4 June and share your ideas on topics to promote men’s health and if there is support for a lunchtime event that week.

Men’s Health Week is celebrated internationally and was established to encourage men of all ages to join in regular exercise to support health and reduce stress; improve knowledge about health and the benefit of regular health checks, to seek help if feeling low or challenged by life circumstances and to help a mate who they believe is struggling.

With the beautiful Autumn weather, we’ve had its possible the thought of winter uniforms may have slipped through. If you require support with uniforms, please make contact with me at the College.

Breakfast Club

Now that the mornings are very cold, it’s easy to sneak a few more minutes in bed…sometimes at the expense of breakfast. Breakfast Club runs in the Canteen every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday morning before school. It is open to ALL students. It is a great spot to stay warm and start the day with some chats and laughs. We encourage all students to make use of this fantastic resource.

We secretly thanks Danielle, the Charlton Bakery, Caffeinated Chaos and Foodbank for the support of this Program!

Register at: www.catholiccarevic.org.au/workshops

CCV also offer single session parent consultations which are available on weekdays, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm. Consultations are offered via phone, online via Zoom, or face-to-face. To book a single-session parent consultation, call the Bendigo office reception on (03) 5438 1300.

Headspace Regional Phone Counselling Service

A reminder that the headspace Regional Phone Counselling Service is still available for our secondary students to access. Some students feel more comfortable chatting with someone over the phone rather than face to face & this service provides confidential access to experienced counsellors. A number of our students have utilised this service in the past & have found it very useful. Please see Jess if you would be interested in receiving more information or arranging a referral.

Lunchtime in the Wellbeing Room

This term we have a range of activities on offer for all students to join during lunchtimes. Please see the program attached.

The Wellbeing Room will open at 1:05pm, after the second bell. Students are asked to eat their lunch before joining.
