Growing Faith in our Junior School
This year, our Foundation to Year 2 students have begun using a new Bible curriculum called GodSpace, and it has already been a wonderful blessing in our classrooms. Students are enthusiastically engaging with the program and look forward to their weekly Bible lessons.
GodSpace is a three‑year curriculum cycle designed to help young children build a strong foundation of faith and biblical understanding. Each week, all Foundation to Year 2 classes explore the same theme, creating a shared learning experience across the Junior School. Lessons include Bible stories, scripture readings, worship songs, discussions, prayer and hands‑on activities that bring God’s Word to life in meaningful and age‑appropriate ways.
So far this year, students have been learning about the importance of the Bible and how it teaches us about God and His love for us. They are discovering who God is and understanding that He knows and cares for each of us individually. Through stories and discussions, students are also learning how God’s Word guides us to make wise and loving choices in our everyday lives.
Another exciting focus has been learning about the power of Jesus and how He changes people’s lives. Students have loved hearing stories about His miracles, His compassion and the way He transforms hearts. It has been wonderful to see children responding so thoughtfully to these lessons.
One of the highlights of the program has been the opportunity for students to worship and pray together. The children have especially enjoyed singing worship songs in their classrooms and praying during Bible time. It is incredibly encouraging to see students growing in confidence as they pray for one another, share their thoughts about God and continue in their faith journey.
To further support student learning, each week’s GodSpace theme is also being used as the basis for our assembly Bible messages. This helps students revisit and deepen their understanding of the concepts explored in class.
We encourage parents and families to continue these conversations at home by asking children what they have been learning in Bible lessons each week. Sharing these discussions together is a wonderful way to support children as they grow in their understanding of God and develop their faith.

SACSA Year 3-6 Athletics Day
Held on 1st May, 46 South Plympton Junior School students represented Emmaus exceptionally well at the SACSA Athletics Championship 2026, competing against schools of a similar size with pride, determination, and outstanding sportsmanship.
We are so proud to see the many budding athletes out representing our College who have given excellent effort during our Athletics unit in PE, applied feedback, and tracked huge improvements, many of which achieved personal bests on Friday.
We also partnered with our friends from Brooklyn Park - making 83 Emmaus students competing on the day.
Our students represented our College beautifully, as they demonstrated brilliant resilience and sportsmanship,.
South Plympton Junior School competed in Division 2 and were placed 5th overall and 2nd in the Challenge Cup. Our Brooklyn Park Team were placed 4th overall and 3rd in the Challenge Cup.
A big thanks to our parent helpers Ben Rogers, Marie Psarros, Chris McLean, Sumi Gnanamickam and Nick Collins, who helped all 46 of our SP students get to their events on time, a huge effort!
I'm also so grateful for the support of our PE team - Craig Rainsford and Zoe Smith who ran the long jump on the day and helped run a tight ship all day!

SACSA Cross Country
We were incredibly proud of all the students who competed yesterday. Their effort, attitude, and willingness to challenge themselves reflected the values we hope sport helps to develop in young people.
We had Jobe C (Year 4) come home with a 3rd place ribbon, and Imogen E (Year 7) came in 1st place, and our Year 7 team came in Runners Up.
With over 100 competitors on average in each race, your child may feel like they didn’t do well because they didn’t receive a ribbon. However, on the bus ride back, we chatted about the many “invisible wins” that deserve to be recognised and celebrated.
Some of these invisible wins included:
- Showing courage to stand on the start line
- Continuing when things became difficult
- Beating a previous personal result or time
- Supporting and encouraging teammates
- Managing nerves and uncertainty
- Demonstrating resilience and determination
- Representing our school with pride and excellent sportsmanship
- Competing at a large competitive event
It takes courage to step outside your comfort zone and perseverance to keep going when things are challenging, qualities that matter far beyond the finish line.
A special mention and thank you also to our wonderful parent volunteers, who continue to support the management and care of students (and teachers!) throughout the day. Your time, encouragement, and willingness to help are greatly appreciated and play such an important role in making events like these possible.
Thank you also for your support in helping students prepare for and participate in the day.

What's on at OSHC
We’re excited to be offering three fantastic after-school sessions at OSHC this term with AFL MAX incursions. Each session gives children the opportunity to stay active, build confidence, and have fun with friends in a safe and supportive environment after a big day at school!
Here’s what’s coming up:
Coles Healthy Kicks 🏈– 13th of May. A fun and interactive AFL session designed to support children’s overall wellbeing through four key focus areas: healthy minds, healthy bodies, healthy food, and healthy teamwork. Children will build their AFL skills while learning the importance of staying active, making positive food choices, working together, and developing confidence.
Skills for Schools 🏉 – 27th of May. A fun and engaging session focused on teaching the fundamentals of football, including goal kicking, handballing, ground ball skills, and marking. Children will build confidence and coordination through interactive games and activities.
MiniRoos ⚽– 10th of June. A fun and engaging soccer session featuring movement challenges, skill-based techniques, mindfulness, and exercise. Children will develop coordination, confidence, and teamwork while building positive wellbeing habits.
Spots are limited across all sessions, so we encourage families to book early to secure a place.
