A Mother’s Love: Reflections from our Early Learning Centre

We recently had the joy of hosting two special events that beautifully demonstrated the essence of a mother’s love: our annual Mother’s Day Shop and our Early Explorers morning gathering.

Our Mother’s Day shop was a particular highlight for our little learners. With a helping hand from their families, the children had the opportunity to select a unique gift to surprise their mums. Watching them walk into the shop was a truly heartwarming experience; their faces lit up with pure excitement as they carefully "analysed" every item, searching for that one perfect treasure. This experience beautifully aligns with National Quality Standard (NQS), as we strive to foster responsive and meaningful relationships. By empowering children to choose a gift, we honour their agency and help them express their unique bond with their mothers.

Our Early Explorers morning was equally beautiful, a time of intentional community. Families gathered to share stories, offer advice, and build connections before their children officially begin their journey, possibly at Emmaus. We value these collaborative partnerships with families, recognising that a supportive community is the foundation for a child’s wellbeing. It was a lovely reminder that we are not meant to walk this path alone, but rather in a village of support and shared faith.

Scripture tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:7 that love "always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." We see this tireless, selfless love reflected in the lives of our ELC mothers every day. As Proverbs 31:28 reminds us, "Her children rise up and call her blessed." On a personal note, I spent my own Mother’s Day within the "sporting realm," cheering on my son at his football game. While it was a busy day spent in the thick of the sporting community, there is a distinct holy joy in seeing our children happy and doing what they love. As mothers, seeing our children flourish is truly what "fills our buckets," and we are so grateful to witness the reflection of God's love through the hands and hearts of our families.
