Stage 3

We have hit the ground running in Stage 3, settling into learning and collaborating in our new classes. Year 6 have already designed their special shirts and voted on a final design. We were very impressed with the children’s unique designs and creativity. All of the designs are included below and you will have to wait until the shirts arrive to see the successful design! Lilly Gilbody’s design was chosen.

On Fridays, the children have been learning how to use Ozobots to tell a story. Stage 3 have had to think creatively and problem solve to code the Ozobots so that they behave the way they want them to. The children have really risen to the challenge, persisting through problems and reflecting on their learning. In particular, the students realised that the Ozobots didn’t like direct sunlight and would not read coding that didn’t fit exactly under the device. Next week, they will record their Ozobot movements as they tell their stories. We would all like to thank Mrs Dunham for teaching us how to be creative with technology.

Next Tuesday morning, Stage 3 will have a visit from a local artist Leah Bullen. She will teach the children about landscapes as well as a variety of watercolour techniques, spanning from traditional to contemporary. In particular, Ms Bullen will teach Stage 3 how to use colours to reflect the landscape and how to develop their own artistic voice. In addition, students will also experiment with some non-traditional materials and explore the science behind this. Thank you to NERAM for facilitating this amazing opportunity.  We can’t wait to see the amazing art the children create!
