Principal's Message

Mrs Jacqui Marshall

Dear Parents and Guardians

It has been another wonderful week as our students settle into their classes.  Today’s newsletter showcases many experiences and opportunities over the past few weeks.

Next week we look forward to seeing families on Wednesday after school for the Meet and Greet session.  Around the school you will see how our theme of “New Beginnings” is coming to life.  When we think of New Beginnings, the terms Growth, Change, Hope , Refresh, Future and Journey come to mind.  Over the year I will explore these words and what they mean for our students on a daily basis. Today let's explore GROWTH

Having a Growth Mindset means that you take on challenges and accept your mistakes. It means that you can learn from your mistakes instead of seeing them as failures. For example, if you couldn’t figure out a maths problem instead of thinking “I can’t do this” you would think “I can do this if I practise more”.

We will be encouraging the following statements in learning spaces

Mistakes help me learn

Feedback is valuable

I improve with practice

I want to challenge myself

Fr Andrew’s Induction Mass

On Sunday 3 March at 11am mass Archbishop Peter Comensoli will formally induct Fr Andrew as the new parish priest at Good Shepherd.  I invite our families to join in for this very special mass.  There will be morning tea afterwards.

Communication

Effective communication remains a priority and for this reason I encourage all families to download the Audiri app. There is more information about this further in the newsletter.

With the support of leadership and admin we will continue to review structures and streamline practices.  I appreciate your support.

Morning and afternoon routines

Some important reminders.

Students should not be arriving at school before 8:25 am and must be picked up between 3:05 pm - 3:25pm.  We do have a wonderful before and after school program for parents who need the support.  Please contact the office for more information.

If you are using the drive through pick up point at the end of the day it is very important for safety and efficiency that parents do not get out of their car.  Teachers are supervising ensuring students walk to their cars.

Prep enrolments

If you have a child starting Prep next year could you please ask for an enrolment form from the school office or download one from our school website.  We would like to process all our current family enrolments by the end of this term.

School tours for prospective enrolments begin next week and the dates are included in the school calendar and on our website.

Have a great weekend,

Mrs Jacqui Marshall
