Japanese

In Foundation, students started learning to say Japanese greetings – good morning (ohayo), hello (konnichiwa) and goodbye (sayonara). They have also had fun singing the Japanese greeting song. Students have also started to learn how to count from 0 to 10 in Japanese and made a mini-Japanese number book to take home and learn with their family.

In Grades 1 & 2, students revised colour vocabulary red, blue, yellow, black, white, green, pink, orange, purple and brown. They also learnt how to apply the "ee" or "no" sound to the end of a colour prior to describing a noun (white sheep). It has been fantastic to see many students confidently say these colours in Japanese. We also celebrated Hinamatsuri (known as Girls' Day or Dolls Day) by making a hina crown.
