Hockey Clinic

This week our grades 3 to 6’s participated in a free Hockey Clinic run by La Trobe University Hockey Club. It was a great introduction to experiencing hockey in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment.

If any student would like to pursue an opportunity to extend their skills, La Trobe University Hockey Club is running a junior beginner program, called Hookin2Hockey. It will start on Saturday 2nd March, running for 8 weeks. Please refer to the attached flier if you would like to register.

Chicken Update

The chickens got some ice blocks with grapes, watermelon and cucumber frozen inside, to help keep them cool on Monday & Tuesday. They loved pecking at them.

We will be selling chicken eggs at assembly most Fridays. $1 per egg. The money will go back to looking after the chickens. Please bring your cash if you are interested.

A couple of reminders for everyone: The chickens can eat kitchen scraps. So if you have anything to bring up to feed them, they will LOVE it. They eat most things apart from onion, potato, and avocado. We also don’t give them meat so that we don’t attract rodents. A full list of foods can be found hanging on their coop. We prefer the food stays in the coop rather than thrown into their yard, or else the pigeons will get a free feed too.  There are little feeding windows on the coop wire for you to put the scraps through.

Also a reminder - I will be holding a chicken orientation session this Friday (16th of Feb), 3:35, in the chicken coop for all families who would like to learn more about how to look after the chickens. All are welcome. Please come along if you can.

We are always looking for more families to join our flock who let them out on weekends. So if you are interested, this can be a great way to connect with the school community. For your efforts, you will get to keep any eggs that they lay. Currently they are laying 3-4 per day.  If this is something you think you can help with, please text Jackie on 0413218761, and I’ll add you to the WhatsApp group. Or come along to Friday’s session.

See you there ☺️

Big Group Hug

PJs, Jocks, and Socks is BACK! We want kids to face every day with confidence - whatever challenges they might face!

However, last year alone, we received a whopping 4,902 requests for clothing packs for newborns aged to 16. Each pack includes at least two pairs of PJs, four pairs of underwear, three singlets, and three pairs of socks, totaling a massive 55,460 items for the year!

Despite our PJS, Jocks, and Socks drive collecting 11,191 items last year, it only lasted a few months! With your help this February, we aim to reach at least 25% of our total target - 13,750 pieces.

We can achieve this together! Every item makes a difference for Victorian children in need.

Please drop any donations to the office.
