Girton Community Action Group

Dignity Drive

During the month of March, the Girton Community Action Group (GCAG) is participating in Share the Dignity's 'Dignity Drive'. As part of the Dignity Drive, we are accepting donations of period products in their original packaging, which will be donated to those in our community who are experiencing period poverty. Dignity Drive accepts donations of the following products:

  • pads
  • tampons
  • reusable pads
  • period underwear
  • menstrual cups
  • incontinence products.

To help improve access to clean and sanitary period products, you can donate products using the boxes at the reception areas in the Morey Building and Naunton Family Building. For more information about the cause or the Share the Dignity Foundation, see https://www.sharethedignity.org.au/dignity-drives

Harmony Day 2024

The Girton Community Action Group (GCAG) has organised an array of activities to celebrate the diversity within our school community on Harmony Day, which this year will take place on Thursday 21 March. There will be a craft table set up in the PA courtyard where students can make friendship bracelets and origami, or colour in their own mandala. All craft activities are free. We will also have a lucky dip!

On the day, GCAG will be selling orange-themed cupcakes ($2), Fanta Spiders ($3) and Orange Jelly ($2), so please bring along spare coins to enjoy the celebrations. All funds raised will be donated to the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre. For more information about this fully independent not-for-profit organisation that supports some of the most vulnerable members of our community, please check out their website: https://asrc.org.au/

In Term 2, we will be organising a Celebration of Diversity Assembly, which will showcase the diversity of our community through dance, song and dress. Stay tuned for more information next term!
