Year 5/6 Team News

with Laura, Christina, Emil, Molly, Bianca I, Kayleen, Steven & Melati

Hello Year 5/6 families,

Literacy

Students are diving into research as they embark on a journey to explore the adaptations of plants and animals. Through this process, they will develop their skills in writing informative texts, exploring the  unique features that enable these organisms to thrive in their environments.

Numeracy

Multiplication and division take centre stage as students explore efficient strategies for solving these operations. Through hands-on activities, problem-solving and rehearsal exercises, students will sharpen their numeracy skills and develop a deeper understanding of these concepts.

Inquiry

Excitement is building as students prepare for a walking excursion to the Jawbone Marine Sanctuary next Tuesday! Please remember to equip your child with iPads, hats, sunscreen and raincoats..

NAPLAN

As NAPLAN approaches, a friendly reminder to parents to ensure that Grade 5 students come prepared with fully charged iPads each day. While NAPLAN provides valuable insights into student progress, it's essential to remember that it's just one part of the educational journey. Students will continue with their regular academic program, focusing on doing their best and enjoying their learning experience.

Cosmetics at school

We have noticed a significant increase in the number of students bringing make up, perfumes and aerosol deodorants to school. We recommend that the application of personal care products occurs at home. Aerosol sprays should not be used at school and students must not be applying make-up on-site before school or at recess and lunch.

Reminders:

  • Please continue to monitor Compass for alerts and updates,
  • If you think you might like to volunteer on excursions and events this year, please ensure that you have arranged a valid Working With Children Check and complete the school’s online induction module (see your Compass Newsfeed for more information)
  • Wide-brimmed hats are to be worn throughout Term 1
  • Please ensure your child brings a charged iPad to school each day

Warm regards,

The Grade 5/6 Team - Laura Bartholomeusz (5/6B), Christina Crosland (5/6C), Emil de Vries (5/6D), Bianca Italiano & Molly Hedditch (5/6I), Kayleen Dumic & Steven Puhar (5/6K) & Melati Cordell (5/6M)
