Student Wellbeing

Mrs Rebecca Beveridge

What a wonderful few weeks we have had at school! My favourite thing I love to see is kids enjoying themselves and feeling happy to come to school! We have seen lots of multi-aged groups in the playground playing together and supporting each other over the past few weeks! It is so wonderful to see such Respectful, Responsible and Resilient students!

Brain Food/Crunch and Sip

At St Joseph's we love providing the chance for students to have a fruit break of 'Brain Food' in the classroom! This happens in most classes at 10 am or within the morning block before lunch. There is a growing body of research showing that what children eat not only affects their physical health but also their mood, mental health and learning. The research suggests that eating a healthy and nutritious diet can improve mental health, enhance cognitive skills like concentration and memory and improve academic performance!

Friendship Groups

In Friendship Groups this term we have been looking a lot at Growth Mindset and what that means! We have looked at the power of positive affirmations and the power of the word 'yet'! The kids have been enjoying sharing their own affirmations they use as well as encouraging one another to talk positively about themselves! Last week we did an activity about ourselves. The students were asked to draw a picture of themselves and write words around them that described them as a person! It is so wonderful to see all the things they love about themselves because it is all the things that we love about them too!
