Moving Up Day – Thursday 28 November

As indicated in the calendar we will have our Moving Up Day on Thursday 28 November. This is a time when the girls from Reception to Year 6 spend the day with their new teacher and fellow peers for 2025. Transitioning to a new class is an exciting time for students, and parents play a crucial role in supporting their daughters through this change. It's important to approach the transition with positivity, emphasising the opportunities for growth, new friendships, and learning experiences. Parents can help by fostering open communication, encouraging their daughters to share their feelings. Acknowledge any apprehensions they might have while focusing on the positive aspects, such as exploring new learning spaces, developing new friendships and having the opportunity to engage with different teachers. Building confidence is key, so remind your daughters of their strengths and past achievements. By maintaining a calm and optimistic outlook, parents can help their daughters view the transition as an opportunity for personal growth and development. Further communication regarding this day will be sent out next week.

Year 3 Strings & Year 5 Band Evening

It was a joy to see the Year 3 and Year 5 girls showcase their talents in the Performing Arts Theatre on Tuesday evening. It’s remarkable to think that these students have only been playing their instruments for just one semester. Their professionalism and dedication was truly commendable and a credit to them all. I wish to thank the music department staff for their hard work in putting on such as enjoyable evening.

Year 4’s Marine Discovery

Year 4 went on an excursion to the Marine Discovery Centre to enhance our learning. Here’s what some of us had to say about the experience!

Turtles, catfish, porcupine fish, swimming around in tanks. Slender seahorses snapping up their heads to catch the small krill drifting down in the water. Wind sweeping sand into children’s faces and murmuring chatter floating through the air. Gloomy grey seas running up the sand. Children picking up shells and smooth stones, brought up by the ocean. Sandcastles being swept into shape and then toppling down again. A day that brought a wave of calmness crashing down on children all around.

I sat down by the gleaming ocean. The feel of the gritty, pale sand gently brushing against my fingertips. The smell of the fresh breeze tickled my nostrils. I could taste the hints of salt in the air and hear the waves crashing against the seashore. How I treasured today.

Ellie G.

Crashing waves illuminate the raging ocean, the sky is grey, and the smell of salt is in the air. Fish in tanks, activities to try. School children laugh and play. Down to the beach treasures await. Sea sponges, starfish, crab claws and even clams too. A lovely day gone by.

The sight of the ocean glimmering in the distance, the seahorses snapping, the sound of tides. I explore the seaside filled with bumpy, astonishing shells. I breathe in the scent of salty water. The feel of the soft white sand trickles between my fingers as memories with friends pass by.
